[EA app] Mass Effect 2 Error Please Insert Disc

I have Mass Effect 2 on disc. I entered the product key into the EA App, hoping to be able to play it without the disc. However, when I attempt to launch through the EA App, it tells me I need the disc inserted. Is there a way to get it to launch without the disc via the EA App?

ME2 was not installed on my PC when I entered the code- I installed through the EA App.

I am also, I have to say, extraordinarily frustrated with EA Help, as I have been unable to reach anyone or even find any sort of troubleshooting help for anything on this site. My open cases have just done nothing.

You installed a digital copy of ME2, meaning you downloaded the game and did not installed from Disc, is that correct?

    Try to repair the game.

(Origin: Game Library > Right-click the game cover > Repair)
(EA app: My Collection > Click on the three dots on the game cover > Repair)
(Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

  • Quick update: I finally, FINALLY got a hold of someone through EA Help. They didn't know the answer either. They reported it as a "bug" and someone should be looking into it.

Forgive my cynicism, but... I have my doubts that anyone will look into anything about a 24 year old game being run in such a way that EA isn't making any more money off it.

I'm amazed- that worked! It was that simple, apparently.

    Thank you so much!

I'm glad I came across this thread. I have Andromeda on PC disk. Bought it years ago. Installed several times (last time 2 years ago), but uninstalled as there was no controller support at that time.

I here from another thread that Andromeda PC now does have Xbone controller support, so I'll reinstall from the disk. I guess it will register to EA app, if not I'll add it manually, as it will need to be updated. Then I'll repair just in case.

    Sound the best way?

    Thanks.

    @GawgPorkChop

If you have already installed the game, it should already be in your EA app library.

(If you are logged in with the same EA account you used 2 years ago, and you will need to use that account as you will not be able to install the game on a different account).

So if you have a decent internet connection you can download a digital copy right away.

If not reinstalling from disk and then repairing the installation should work as well.

    Great, thanks for the clarity.

Haven't got round to it yet, but I will do. Cheers!
