[EA app] Mass Effect Special Edition Converted To Standard Edition

Commander, you have received a new message at your private terminal!

I wanted to provide an update on a few issues around players who have logged in and their "special edition" of the game shows that they have the Standard Edition of the game, and or content is no longer there.

I contacted the BioWare team about the images for different titles changing, and last year the team changed the games, and some icons have changed.

For example, you purchased the Digital Deluxe edition of Mass Effect 2, but when you log in, you see the Standard Edition. The icon is now just the Standard Edition, but all additional content is listed under manage add-ons.

Note: All games will show Standard Edition now, but you do have access to the DLC your account owns!

I promise, as Shepard, I have played more than 33 min of this game! 🤣 This image does have EA Play in the image but yours should have the same add-ons as the image.

Since last year, everyone has all the DLC content now, no matter what they purchased in the past as these were bundled. With that said, if you do not have the DLC content showing in the EA app, please run through the steps below to test it. There is a lot of DLC content, and that takes time depending on your connection.

We want to play now right? Need to save the galaxy again and that won't help without my Blood Dragon armor or my Collector Armor!

  • First, we want to start with the Unauthorized DLC thread and just delete the content - DO NOT install it again yet!
  • Next, clear the EA App's Cache (Top Left Menu > Help > App Recovery)

Next, we want to get rid of some unwanted files and folders that may conflict with the content showing in-game!

Delete EA License Files:

  • Make sure the EA app is closed.
  • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
  • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER
  • Enable View Hidden Files and Folders
  • Delete all files in the "License" folder.

Please clear your temp files:

  • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time
  • Into the new window, type or copy & paste: "%temp%" (Without the quotes.) > hit "ENTER"
  • Your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
  • (If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)

Once all content, cache, and folders for the game are deleted, log back into the app and run a repair on the game so that your account checks for all "owned" content"

Finally, check the manage add-ons folder and check and see if your content is there to install!

If you run into any issues with this, please feel free to reply to this thread with images, videos, and a short explanation of what is going on with your game!

Cheers!
