Enemies in Mass Effect 2 have no health bars, how do i fix it?

Enemies have not had any health bars in my insanity playthrough these last few weeks. I just recently started playing again after about a 3 year break. They had health bars at first, but have since disappeared. I'm concerned I won't get the insanity trophy when i beat the game if i try to do anything non-standard to fix it. It has made some battles extremely difficult.
