@ketxxx I love your input, that is what I thought, my calculations got me to :
In 1 second, light travels about 186,282.3960 miles.
In a minute that's 11,176,943.76 miles
In an hour that's 670,616,625.6 miles
In a day that's 16,094,799,014.4 miles
and, in a year (365.25 days) that's 5,878,625,340,009.6 miles
so now that we know this you can multiply it by 600 (the time in years it took to get to andromeda) which gives us : 3,527,175,204,005,760 miles
And while we know that NOTHING can travel faster than light (unless the guys at Bioware know something I don't), we have data to transfer over 3,527,175,204,005,760 miles and given that, I just can't see how they can explain this HUGE hole in the story, it just breaks apart no matter how you try to spin it.
one note though, they never did tell us how fast the mass effect relays worked, so we don't know what kind of tech was used there (although we know the reapers created it and they are FAR more advanced than anyone), so the only thing that I can assume is, that somehow during ME2, someone figured out the tech of the mass relays and used that to boost the transfer data between galaxies , so then comes the big question, why didn't they use the same tech to travel between galaxies? did they send the Hyperion with equipment to build a mass relay in andromeda? wouldn't that have been their first assignment? as you can see we can have SO many questions it doesn't make a lot of sense...
Well... according to http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/FTL the FTL drive on a ship can travel about a dozen light years in the span of a day without bending space time so there wouldn't be a time dilation effect.
So FTL for 1 day would be 12 x 5,878,625,340,009.6 or 70,543,504,080,115.2 Miles, so yeah over 636 years the distance traveled is not a short one...
However we're never told if the FTL is faster/slower than what's listed above.
As for Mass Effect relays, I'd assume somewhat like the above but at a higher conversion rate.

@Xx-Gimmle-xX& @Pyro411, The only theoretical possibility I know of for the relays that would allow almost instantaneous travel would be wormhole tech and if the Reapers really figured that out they seriously are machine gods and us puny humans of the Milky Way should not of had a hope in hell against them 😛
As a side note though how cool would it be if Reapers mastered alternate reality travel and a bunch from a reality that wiped out the Milky Way comes to chase down the species in the Milky Way and Andromeda? Same old enemy true but its not like there couldn't be wrenches thrown in to be complete curveballs, for example that alternate reality could also be one where the AIs from the Metacon War won, a few travelled to another galaxy themselves to escape and are now back to fight the Reapers every bit as advanced. Could be a proper cool story. AI from the Metacon trying to wipe out the Reapers, Reapers trying to cleanse the Galaxies humanity has escaped to, and right at the bottom of the chain poor old organics trying to survive. Being able to choose the side you are on would be cool too but also require monolithic story writing. - 9 years ago
@ketxxx totally agree, that would be a great spin to the story (better than what they could have thought up at Bioware that is for sure). I just had a thought as well...maybe the Kett ARE actually the collectors?? maybe it has been them all along... maybe they are trying to create the super civilization so they can defeat the Reapers, we do know they were created by the reapers during the Prothean wipe out, but maybe they are trying to free themselves from the clutches of the reapers.
Anyway I really think Bioware blew it in this game with one option that is right in front of them, they could have let us play ANY one of the pathfinders which would be AWESOME!!!
think of it, you decide which race you want to be and start off when the Kett attack then things sync as the human pathfinder comes to your aid. It could have made this the best game that ever existed in my opinion.

@Xx-Gimmle-xX, funny enough everyone suggested that early on when the game was in early stages of development Bioware simply ignored the people (which were most of them) who suggested it. Has anyone heard any news about a 1.08 patch for the game yet? I might suffer playing the game once more when it is all fully patched up.
While I think about it as well, why is the game so stingy with research data points? To play the game as many times as you would need to unlock everything you are talking about making a game thats as good as the first Mass Effect or Witcher 3, Andromeda is nowhere near as good as either of those games. Forcing us to grind will not make us play the game more Bioware it just makes the game even less enjoyable to play.

Well... it's a start.

@Pyro411, A start, but underwhelming so far I'd say. Patch 1.08 should be the one that fixes most of the single player and multi player bugs, in comparison adding romance options and more character creator options is just baby potatoes that stuff can be left until a final patch. Whoever is working on these patches has horrible prioritisation on issues.

@ketxxx my thoughts exactly, where is the fix for the MP where you don't get kills if you push an enemy off the screen? where is the fix for the SP...well, we have so many I don't know where to start...a whole month and all they could come up with is being able to romance Jaal? seriously? oh... and now I can make my character look like Alec or I can use the "new feature" of a bald character YAY .... I "can't wait" to play the game again...totally worth it....
These devs need to learn how to prioritize their tasks seems to me the just went for the easy fixes and didn't bother to look into the real problems of the game. this is not a patch, it's a joke on all of the gamers who paid for this game.
I can see it already, they will send out a DLC and tell us to pay for it too because it has all the fixes we are looking for.

Exactly. The worrying thing now is are Bioware going to address all of the bugs in a 1.09 patch or is this their swan song? There are so many outstanding bugs alone that a lawsuit could, and probably should, be bought against Bioware and EA for selling a product that is not of merchantable quality. In the UK at least the case would hold heavy weight as we have laws that specifically outline that even software must be of a acceptable standard and not contain a nigh endless list of issues. If software like that is released a full refund must be given or the developer must issue patches fixing the problems.

@ketxxx new bug.. ever since 1.08 patch I can't get the full screen mode to work, I only get a black screen with the sound in the background.
I'm really starting to think of a lawsuit against EA and Bioware.... - 9 years ago
Trophies/achievements regarding strike teams still don't work when you do them in the app. There is still no way to earn the "Teamwork" trophy/achievement, if you recruited the sixth team in the app - retiring a team and recruiting a new one won't help.

Anyone know if a 1.09 patch is inbound? If anyone has the metal for it starting a completely new game (not NG+) would really help clear up what bugs remain and what have been fixed.
@ketxxx I am playing the new game (not NG+) all bugs are still up and running, no news on that part, just new bugs showing up everywhere aka can't play on full screen mode.

@Xx-Gimmle-xXAlright if you can make a note of all the bugs you come across I'll do a full update to the first post again.
