I actually see a lot of potential games that could be made, although I have my favorite 3.
1) MEA2: The Ryders are trying to deal with the fallout of their decisions and the war with the Archon, while continuing to expand and explore. Kett, Angara, and MW people are struggling with rebellion and political upheaval, even as the arrival of new arks, lost colonies, and the further complicate matters, while in the shadows conspiracies continue to maneuver.
2) ME Fall: Shepard defied Catalyst, and now both are gone. Leaderless Reapers turn on each other as the harvest continues. As members of the resistance, you are fighting to save as many lives as possible from the harvest. Possibly episodic, playing alternatively as resistance fighters on Earth, Palavan, and Thessia from day one of invasion, a Hammer member shot down before reaching London, and an Allied Command Operative/leader.
3) ME Rogue's Gallery: A prison ship of the galaxy's worst, including Shepard's prisoners, captured Cerberus, outlaw mercs, gangs, BSS Purgatory survivors, and general scumbags, suffers critical damage leading to a prisoner takeover and an impromptu trip through the Omega 4 relay. After playing a key role in the revolt and determining the fate of the surviving crew you evacuate the failing ship with your chosen prisoner faction. Depending on your faction, choices, and Shepard's choices you can acquire different teammates and alliances with some (not all) of the other factions as you seek to survive the dangers of the wreckage field and gather the resources to suvive and make your way back to reclaim your place in the galaxy at large.
4) MEA Outcast Path: Play as an outcast after the Uprising, fighting for survival and a new home, and picking a side as the Charlatan rises
5) ME4: The Galaxy is struggling to rebuild after the victory at Earth, but without Shepard and the Reapers to unite them old scars are tearing apart the fragile new alliances, and past mistakes come back with a vengeance. Play as a Specter trying to keep the peace, a colonial soldier seeking independence, or a merc out to build a personal empire. Find resources and allies, and tip the delicate balance of the galaxy to save the council worlds or tear them apart.
6) MEA Plymouth: Play as a colonist aboard a failing post-Reaper invasion ark attempting a desperate landfall in an uncharted cluster in Andromeda. Collect Supplies and Survivors, establish bases, and scout the hostile planet as you try to forge a survivable colony against all odds.

This idea is what I also think the next game should be, in fact its what MEA should of been in my opinion.
I think Bioware should first make a remastered original trilogy. Its something many fans have asked for and its could be a gauge for Bioware to measure interest in the ME series.
I also think it was a mistake to leave the Milky Way galaxy for Andromeda, taking players away from a rich lore of history and the places we love such as the Citadel and Tuchanka. The next game should be set after the Reaper War, 10 years or hundred whatever but could start after the Sol ME Relay has been rebuilt and the player leads a team into a very different galaxy to either promote humanitys dominance or reestablish council authority.
It could also include many of the concepts that were cut out of or watered down in MEA such as setting up outposts etc

Only issue I have with the idea of staying in the Milky Way, is it would either require setting an ending...ie Destroy or Synthesis.
Reasoning on this is, IF it was control then you would have "Shepard AI" in charge of the Reapers and thus it is in control of the Galaxy. If you have Synthesis, then you would have to either modify(handwave) the whole idea of it as being all lifeforms now share understanding(hive mind or geth concept) and/or make it where Synthesis is rejected by Nature and thus didn't take on future generations and thus everything is reset. Only ending that would be supported with a short time between ME3 ending and ME5 would be Destroy and that would hack off many people who didn't choose that in ME3. So to my mind the only way they can continue with MWG, is let it be a Pre-shep time frame, OR next cycle time frame....

Other than the shoot Catalyst ending, you should be able to combine the endings, at least for a game or two, with three assumptions.
1) The Leviathans want to rule the galaxy. Based on Shepard meeting them it's not a stretch.
2) The Crucible missed a few pockets of Reapers. There has been debate on this since we first saw the Crucible blasts on the Galaxy Map, so it is relatively reasonable.
3) Control and Synthesis collapse Reaper unity. A bit of a stretch, especially in a short timeframe, but doable. Leviathans and original Reapers are already separate, and the Crucibled Reapers develop logic glitches similar to the Geth and Heretics, causing them to coalesce around major personalities, such as Shepard, Catalyst, Harbinger, and the Collector creator, and view the others as existential threats.
As a result of these assumptions the next game has the Leviathans and Reapers waging (multilateral) war on each other in the background, but mostly not actively targeting the MW Races and planet as they rebuild, although Reapers, Thralls, and Collectors could continue to be periodic enemies. While you could challenge lone capital class enemies, this wouldn't really be necessary unless one of the factions gains the upper hand in your area.
So for next game:
1) Destroy: Leviathans and original Reapers fight each other, Geth/AI characters/missions eliminated, possible Shepard interactions
2) Control: Shepard, Catalyst, Harbinger, the Collector creator, Leviathans and original Reapers (plus other Reaper factions?) fight each other, possible ShepReaper interactions
3) Synthesis: Catalyst, Harbinger, the Collector creator, Leviathans and original Reapers (plus other Reaper factions?) fight each other, possible Shepard memory unlocks/missions, EDI/Joker babies.
If you want to add an extra Reaper faction to any of these, just have everyone's favorite Quarian TIM wannabe, Admiral Xen, take over some Reapers and launch her own war for galactic dominance. I suppose someone could use Henry Lawson's work to do the same, or have it as an optional questline.
- 8 years agoI think if they return to the Milky Way they need to separate the story from the ME trilogy (obviously including its history). So no Shepard or his allies, any character really from the trilogy, and really only mention the Reaper Invasion rather than trying to build a new story directly off of it.
I love ME:A but I think EA soured on it too much for a sequel sadly.
I wonder if a prequel of sorts would be possible, but I'm not sure if there is enough there for a full game.
