Game ending glitch in mass effect 3

Im at the part where you are supposed to kill the reaper on rannoch. I hit the thing once with the targeting system but then after that nothing happens. I just keep holding the targeting device in position and absolutely nothing happens. I have read a few threads where others have had this problem and cannot come up with an answer. Please do not say I just need to keep rolling and keep the laser in the center. That is not the issue. It is a bug. Its looking like a game ending scenario which would be devestating considering I have imported all the way from the first mass effect. PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME! If the problem cant be fixed then I will never be able to play any mass effect again because I cant put all those hours and emotional investment in my characters and just hope the bug wont be there next time

    Ok so anyone else that is completely retarded and falls for this, heres the answer and yes you will feel pretty stupid. Having the lines come together in the center is not sufficient, you also have to put the crosshairs of the actual gun on the reaper. Seems pretty obvious but Ive been thinking for days that my game was ruined. There is no glitch and Im retarded

    Try going into saves and going to restart mission, I have had a few issues in the game where it would not recognise me killing enemies or I would go to an area to find that the enemies I was meant to kill just weren't there. Usually a reload of the entire mission fixes this. At least it did for me and it would be worth trying before you try the whole game again.

    It takes multiple  hits from the orbiting fleet to destroy that Reaper.

    You have to release the targeting system, move around to dodge the counter-attacks, then re-target for the next strike.  (I can't remember if it takes three, or four, times to do the job.)

    Im going to try reloading a save but Ive read a thread where a guy did just that and it still didnt work. Im also going to try using another copy of the game but thats definitely a long shot.

    This is my second play through so I know how to beat the reaper. This is definitely a glitch.

    If I did have to start over could I use a non imported sheapard and make the decisions to have wrex alive and tali as my love intersest etc?
