GDF Error upon install attempts? HELP PLEASE!!!!

Hello, I have been having issues with my copy that I got for christmas.  Whenever I attempt to install it prepares it.  Then It "finishes" but when I am in origin, and I hover my mouse over the games cover to select play the same ready to install window pops up.  I tried several diffrent times all with the same effect.  I checked the folder and I have no exe.  I also have been looking online.  A few threads I found such as this one http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/8238677.page talk about a "GDF".  I gave no clue what that is and my install log has the same reading on it.  I have been buying EA products for nigh on 10 years now and this is the first problem I have ever had, Im not good at the technical side of this so any help would be much appreciated.

PS I have reinstalled the game fully from the disc's twice, and I have fully downloaded the game from origin, aswell as I have restarted my PC three times, and have reinstalled origin and updated my drivers for my graphics card

    FIXED:

    Jesus christ Origin, you really gotta fix this sht.. did some researched apparently this error's been around forever, and for many other games too..

    gonna post solution, so that other ppl know how to fix it, as well as if I run into this again, I can re-reference.

    AND why the hell did someone move my post from new technical issues post to this dead post??? I posted there because I wanted help on this issue!

    SOLUTION:

    anyways here's the solution...

    GDF error needs to be fixed with regedit. apparently there's an issue with registry and the number of back slashes in the string value. so we have to manually edit this.

    1) win key + r

    2) type regedit and then press enter

    3) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

    4) then to SOFTWARE

    5) then to BioWare

    6) then to Mass Effect 3

        your registry for it NEEDS to look like this!

        If you installed your game in another dir change the values in the string accordingly. MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE TWO BACKSLASHES!!

    "GDFBinary"="C:\\Program Files\\Mass Effect 3\\GDFBinary_en_US.dll"
    "Locale"="en_US"
    "Install Dir"="C:\\Program Files\\Mass Effect 3"
    "Path"="C:\\Program Files\\Mass Effect 3"
