The Haestrom bug/glitch...happens to me every time and reloading to a prior save doesn't change anything.
I turn clipping off to get through the door; Iron Spine's post (linked below) explains how to set-up the key bindings for turning clipping on and off.

Unfortunately using this method means you cannot save Kal'Reegar.
thank you so much i was just about ready start the hole thing back over
so whats the deal? if i start the game back over will i have that same problem?
There's no guarantee that reloading a prior save and/or restarting the game will "fix" the bug.
The method I posted above (turning clipping off) doesn't require a restart, but it does require modifying the "Coalesced.ini" which is a pain in the tukas.
I've never had this problem in over 20 playthroughs on 3 different machines. Do we have any idea what's causing it?
I'm not completely sure why it happens.
For a long time I had no issues with this mission and then I played it with a slightly better CPU...I had to reload once and it was fine.
My current CPU is much better than my previous ones and has Windows 7, which my previous ones (that I played ME2 on) didn't. I purchased this computer so that I could play ME3 with the highest settings and it works perfectly for that, but I cannot get past that frelling door no matter what I do and spent at least one entire night (several hours) trying everything I could think of before doing the clipping adjustment (Kal'Reegar is one of my favorite characters and I didn't want to lose him, but I no longer have a choice).
Maybe we should post CPUs then. I played the game on three machines, one with an AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ (3.0 Ghz dual core) and two each with an AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE (3.4 Ghz quad core) without this issue.
