GTX 670 Issues - Main Loading Screen / Menu

I came across this post in the now read-only section of the old PC Technical Support Forum - http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/344/index/14908671

I am experiencing the same issue, the main title (earth with debris) and the menu screen following it are extremely laggy and step-by-step.  I tried the previous user's method of reinstalling the drivers and not rebooting but to no avail, the game still goes into die-hard slow-down mode.

Having said that, this problem did NOT exist yesterday.  This computer is brand new (Saturday) and I think this problem is somehow related to a possible windows update that downloaded between me last playing the game yesterday for the multiplayer challenge and now.  Rolling back the driver to the one that came on the DVD (the auto-update provided me with a newer incarnation) did not seem to solve the problem either.

And this problem doesn't seem to exist for Skyrim.  Not sure why this should happen to, of all things, a menu and title screen.  Any thoughts/suggestions?

Huzzah!  The situation is solved.  I actually didn't spend much time looking for a solution as I had other things to do, but google once again has saved the day.

For any who might be interested or come across this problem, the solution involves the OC Guru II that comes with the card's software.  As a background program it happens to be running with a 3D overlay that in the case with Mass Effect 3 running simultaneously causes severe lag.  Simply close the OC Guru II program to eliminate the problem.
