High FPS issues

Hello,

I have a question about issues/bugs when running Mass Effect 3 on high fps.

After buying a 144hz monitor the first thing I did was increasing the framecap to 144.

I quickly learned that my shields don't seem to recharge - or only after a long time - when running on 144 fps.

So I tried 120fps instead. Runs a lot better. But I still have the feeling something is not right.

Later I tried 72fps (strange number, but I came up with it by dividing 144 by 2) and I seem to actutally play a lot better then at 120fps.

So now I am really confused.

I did a little research on the internet and on one site it was recommended to just keep the framecap at the default 62 because of console porting?

Also, this question doesn't really just apply to ME3, but also to ME1 and ME2.

As for ME2 I am constantly stuck in the walls after increasing to fps-cap to 144. I was occasionaly stuck in the walls before, but now the walls have become the most dangerous enemy of the game.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

  • This is actually the first I've heard of ME3's game logic being tied to framerates. I'll do a quick run with Vsync disabled to see if I experience issues at 144fps. I'm a 60hz peasant myself and I always enable Vsync, which is why this has never affected me.

Edit: Unfortunately, AMD's framerate control is capped to 90 on my PC, so I don't think I can replicate the issue.
