How to get Mass Effect 3 to work on Windows 8.1???

Ok I'm trying to get ME 3 installed on my Alienware Windows 8.1 laptop.

System SPecs:  Intel i7 2.40 ghz

16 Ggs of RAM

64 bit OS

Graphics Card is Nvida GTX 765 M with 2 gigs of DDR5 RAM

I already have star Wars The old Republic installed and it runs fine with no problem.  I have reinstalled Origin from the website and then reinstalled ME3.  I have clicked Run as Admin. on both Origin and ME3 and tried running in Windows XP3 mode and nothing.  Origin will load but ME3 will not start when I click on it.   I'm ready to take it back to Walmart and see if they will give me my money back.  I've played ME 1 & ME2 but that was on xbox 360 which I don't have anymore.  Please help.

Thanks

  • I play ME3 already 2 years with the notebook from Win 8 Preview to 8.1 Update. Standard run - no XP Mode or "Run as admin"
    x64. Intel i5/4 Gb RAM/GeForce GT540M 1 Gb - no problem. Check your system.

Computer is still pretty much a brand new computer.  I have updated my video drivers.  Apparently ME3 doesn't like my PC.

  • I, too, have been running ME3 on Win8 (Preview (all), Public Release, and 8.1) with no issues.  I mean literally, NO. ISSUES.

So something is going on with your install/configuration, but Win8.1 isn't the problem.  😕mileysurprised:

I don't know what the issue could be.  I have tried downloading Origin from EA's website.  I have disabled my anti virus, tried to optimized my graphics using GeForce Experience.  All drivers from Nvida have been downloaded.  When I click on my shortcut from my desktop or from Origin nothing happens.  The first time I installed it however it started to work and I plugged in my headset.  There was a roaring sound and the computer froze. No error messages.

If I can't get it to work I guess I'll have to go get a copy and play on a console.  What I don't understand is that Star Wars The Old Republic works just fine with this computer.

  • File - Options - Compatibility:

    1) disable scaling

    2) run as Administrator

this is my recipe to run ME3 & ME2

Same problem here, can't get it to work.  It used to work fine on Windows 7, now, nothing I've tried works, and I can't reach EA's tech support.
