I ended up buying a programmable dongle that would let you map, for example, your Xbox controller to your Playstation console and just programmed it so that left was right to be able to play the mass effect games. I believe it was old jrpgs that did it to me.
I'm with you. Absolutely cannot play a game without the option to invert both axes.
