mass effect 2 crashing after Kasumi loyalty mission Windows 10

So is see that this was solved back in 2013, but the directions seem to be aimed at Windows 7 users as Windows 10 did not exist then. I tried adding the  -nomoviestartup at the end of the target line for both MassEffect2.exe and ME2game.exe and it still won't work. Has anyone found a fix for Windows 10?

Basically, right after I click exit after the mission summary, it the screen turns black and I get a message that the game has crashed. It never closes to desktop, I have to restart my computer to get out of it. The music still plays.

Here are my device specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20 GHz 4.20 GHz

RAM: 32.0 GB

System Type 64-Bit Operating System, x64-based Processor

Windows 10 Home

It should work at Windows 10 as well.

Go to the ">drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 2\Binaries" folder and right click on the "MassEffect2.exe" > send to > Desktop (create shortcut).

Now go to the Desktop and right click the shortcut > Properties.

Click in the "Target" field and then use your right arrow key to bring the cursor to the end of this line (directly after the quote mark (") ). Copy and past this:

-nomoviestartup" without the quote but with the space before the (-) in the "Target line. Should look that way:   ...Binaries\Win32" -nomoviestartup

  • @boopish,

Try setting the game to full screen windowed mode in the games graphics settings, that should get you passed the crash. the same issue is present in jacks loyalty mission and some spots  on omega and ilium.
