And of course, one more try and it worked.
For anyone reading this... I think I just had to wait a few seconds longer after booting up the game.

And this is what the login issue looks like:
That communication error happens every time on the first attempt, but will then succeed if I wait a minute or two and try a second time.
It also boots up with that error message when I launch the game even though I told it not to try to auto-login.
Community Manager@jros83 I am doing a completely fresh install with no files to see if I get issues. One thing I did not see is whether you got the Windows security pop-up when you installed and launched the game.
Message says: Windows Firewall has blocked some features of Mass Effect 2 on all public and private networks.
Allow or Deny
I received that upon initial install, and told it to accept it going forward, so it won't pop again for me this install.
