Mass Effect 3 Dialogue Echo

I'm playing Mass Effect 3 on my laptop, Dell Inspiron7720 model.  

All dialogue in the game is accompanied by an echo/reverberation ranging from very strong (on the Citadel it's very noticable) to medium sized in other locations.

I have no custom audio/video configurations in place on my computer.  The audio is configured for Stereo output and not surround sound.  The problem persists whether I use headphones or the built in laptop speakers.

I've seen suggestions about soundcard drivers causing the problem and/or video hardware acceleration.  Running Windows 10 and have been unable to find anywhere to play with the hardware acceleration; the consensus on the internet seems to be that I don't have it or that it is not modifiable in Windows 10.  

Can someone please advise what's the best way to reach resolution?
