Mass effect 3 Leviathan DLC crash (on asteroid)

Exact place: Mass effect 3 crashes in Leviathan on the asteroid after elevator is repaired, going up and opening the door. It is always the same place when trying to get from the elevator to the room. Tried to

Crash to Desktop (CTD)

Additional info: I have finished the game already and did not experience such problems. Without DLCs though. I have downloaded the DLCs recently and have been trying to play the game again. Otherwise i didn't experience any issues.

Updated already the soundcard, graphic card drivers. Didn't help. Tried to lower graphic settings. Doesn't help either. Directx should be the latest, tried to update that as well. Tried to search for updates, repair through origin. So any help would be recommended. I am very dissapointed that buying a game results in having problems playing it.

Let me know if you need something else.

Update:

i have solved it... maybe it can help as well others. The downloaded DLC was somehow corrupt so i just fixed it through Origin. Now it seems to work fine. Just did think that repair function works in general also for DLC when you click on the Mass Effect 3 game icon. But no. The DLCs have to checked/repaired separately by listing them and clicking the right mouse. Should have looked more thouroughly before posting this but perhaps it will help somebody ;-)

Don't know how to set the thread to solved.

  • Every time I try to use the second elevator, after I click to asscend, less than a second later, CTD.  I tried your "Repair DLC" trick, but for some reason Leviathan doesn't seem to have that option.  Omega does....argh

I have the same problem. I bought all the DLCs looking forward to experience the game from the beginning again with all the DLCs but boom, the game crashes over and over at the same spot while I'm playing the Leviathan. After I escort the drone and repair the door, I open the first door and start to open the second, then the game crashes.

Tried to change resolution, low graphic, turn off the sound, update the drivers, restart the whole mission, nothing helps.

Didn't find the "repair" option for the DLC anywhere. Any suggestions? I really don't want to go back or skip this DLC, since I paid for it.

  • I am having a similar problem except it is not during that mission.  It's happening in the mission where you have to rescue Anna Bryson.  It keeps crashing right after I kill the Harvestor that is preventing Cortez from picking you up.

I've been having the same post-elevator problem on the asteroid. I've tried individually repairing the Leviathan addon, but it doesnt help. It will spend 2 hours repairing, just to crash in the same spot.

I am also having the same issue, and have tried repairing both the game and DLC files through Origin multiple times with no change in result. Help!

Still no advice? In desperation I installed my Origin and Mass Effect 3 on an entirely different computer, but still get the same crash in the same place. So I think it might be tied more to my save than hardware?

I think I'm just going to waste a few hours of my life an start a completely new game and take it to the point where I can do Leviathan and see if it still happens.  If it does, then we will know it is save related, but I sincerely doubt it is save related.

So, after starting a completely new game to test it out I still get the crash.  The exact moment I stepped off the elevator it crashed, just as it had with my other saves, so I do not believe this is tied to saves.  As others have stated, they've reproduced this glitch on two different computers.  There is something corrupted with the game files EA is sending out.

This is a recent edit of my above comments.  [02/27/14]

To expand upon corrupted files, I believe this is a recent thing.   The file origins sends out for Leviathan is either corrupted or it conflicts with other DLC from ME3.  Reports of this started sometime in January, so I believe perhaps a more recent update is the culprit.  Again, the fact that it happens at the same exact place every time and is so reproducable, I think this is a matter of a corrupted file within the .sfar file for Leviathan. It's probably a very small portion of that file, too, but it's still corrupted and causing a problem for many players like myself.  Remeber, for every player that reports the problem, there are probably at least 3 others that have the same problem and haven't reported it.
