Mass Effect 3 slow menu startup - PC

Hey, I made a post a long time ago but I cannot find it. Recently, I bought the Mass Effect trilogy for the PC. I downloaded Mass Effect 3 as well as all of the updates and free DLC, then started the game up through origin. When the game started up, the startup clips go as they're supposed to but when the game starts, the screen goes down to maybe .5 fps. It's like the game refreshes every 2 seconds and works for maybe one before freezing again. The music plays as it's supposed to. When I press a key, it played the sounds as normal but the screen switches to the Normandy computer menu at the same speed. The "Authenticating DLC" window appears and it just stays there (I assume because communicating takes way too long). I've sat at this for 20 minutes at least and nothing has happened. I tried opening the game in windowed mode as well just to make sure it wasn't my computer and it wasn't. The game client is just running obscenely slowly and it renders the game unplayable. I paid for this game, so what can I do to fix it?

  • First of all, could you post your hardware specs?

There are some tricks to improve launch speed, but your problem is one I'm unfamiliar with. I have decent framerates myself in the main menu. I personally disconnect my PC from teh internet completely so the game doesn't attempt DLC authentication. It speeds up the process significantly. Keep in mind that DLC needs to be authenticated at least once for this to work.

Windows Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit

    Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor

    Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 650

    Total RAM: 4.0 GB

Everything else I have works. Dishonored, Skyrim, Batman: AC, Civilization, Smite, Poker Night, SWTOR... It's just the mass effect games that are doing this (The issue is with 2 as well.)

Unfortunately, I got Mass Effect 3 solely for the multiplayer, so I need to be online for it.

    Any ideas, anybody?
