Restarted in Safe Mode
Ran DDU while in Safe Mode
Restarted in Normal mode
Reinstalled Geforce driver
Gee, it seems I'm doing more troubleshooting than actually playing lately, but at least I can get through the sentry turret now.
Thank you so much for your help!
You're welcome! Have fun gaming.

Argh. Nine months later, and I'm back in literally the same place: trying to save Zal'Koris, and having the turret crash the game every time.
Except that NOW, using DDU in safe mode while disconnected from the internet did NOT help. The stupid sentry turret crashes the game every damn time no matter what I do, which means I cannot progress at all.
@holger1405, I am posting a dxdiag for my machine. I don't suppose you have any other suggestions?
Edited to add: out of desperation, I went to Documents/Bioware/Mass Effect 3/Save, and - surprise, surprise - found half a dozen folders I am absolutely certain should NOT have been there. Deleted those folders with prejudice, and NOW the game works. Don't know where the hell those folders came from, but they won't be back.

There should be as many folders as you have created characters in this location.
Save corruption is not uncommon in ME3, so that is not surprising, but normally a corrupt save is crashing the game at startup not in a specific location or at a specific task.
