i think i've shared my views on this stuff more than a few times, but here i go again, i guess.
do i think mass effect andromeda was a bad game? hardly. it's really an ok game, IMHO. i had quite a bit of fun playing it (over 700 hours thus far IIRC), and the updates did help turn things around too, well when we were still getting them. the problem was that what i saw in game was a lack of quality compared to previous bioware titles, let alone the first installment of a new mass effect series. if they wanted to lay the foundation for a new mass effect trilogy or whatever you want to call it, they really need to invest in it... i think what happened instead was resources that should have been put into ME:A were diverted into that new ip (who's name shall not be spoken). it also seems to me that at some point it became common practice to take a whole complete game, and have it chopped into bits so they can sell it to us piecemeal as dlc, when most of that stuff should be in the main game itself, i see that happening here as well.
if you don't intend to put forth the effort in a game like this, you're better off not making it till you are actually going to give it the effort it really needs, and if they expected a warmer reception they need to wake up, because a half***ed approach to a title like this is just going to * people off... now, i'm not actually one of those people who are pissed at the game (as i enjoy it enough), i'm pissed at the EA/bioware for not giving this game an honest shake. because of that lack luster rush-job mass effect is effectively dead, so thanks bioware/EA.
