mass effect legendary edition pc runs like dog crap.

I still can't believe I'm this disappointed in how poorly this remaster performs on my pc. Its like ea spent zero time on qa for the pc port.  I get terrible framerates out of the gate on a 1060ti with an i7( got 60 on the highly modded original),  mouse doesn't work- cursor disappears in the menus, and spins uncontrollably in one direction as soon as i gain control, the game outside the legendary menu wont recognize my controller... So I literally cannot play the game. How the hell does this get an ok to be released? I was so excited to spend my weekend playing this and now I just feel like this is another ea money grab. Especially considering its a full game price yet runs like crap. I'm sure this runs amazing on consoles, as the focus was CLEARLY in that area. I'm getting a refund from steam, which is yet another reason I avoid buying from origin at every turn! Your company can't release quality for the life of it!! I miss the bioware pre-EA. Damn shame, I was so incredibly hyped this whole week all for it to come crashing down due to negligence and greed, yet again.

  • Hey just wanted to say I found the underlying issues causing my problems. Two things: Steam and Origin Overlays caused the framerate issues. Second, there is a known bug that exists currently that messes up your mouse cursor and controls by launching the game with a controller plugged into your pc. I just so happened to have a HOTAS flight stick setup plugged in, which caused my problems.

  • @Reaper_CDAI don't doubt that you're having those issues, but I think the issue isn't straightforward. I'm getting 100+fps consistently on GTX 970 and an i7 4790k. Mako fps jumps around a lot though on some planets (usually around 60-70, but with occasional brief dips to like 20 and spikes to 100+). I'm also not having any issues with mouse or keyboard ( though I don't doubt you are).  I do hope there's another performance/ stability patch, though.

Along the same lines as where I think this thread is going, I have a wireless controller plugged into my computer to steer my character (as I am disabled) as well as a mouse and keyboard.  So this is what I did. I started the game with my controller dongle unplugged, and plugged it in after the game had started, and testing it briefly, it seemed to have resolved the low frame rate issue. I'll test it again tomorrow, as it's time for bed.

  • @valsi461 Update: The game plays fine now. I just have to disconnect the controller dongle before playing, and reconnect it once the game starts.
  • EA needs to fix this.  Beyond inexcusable that a simple controller can cause fps issues like this.  I've filed a support ticket with EA Support & hope they get to fixing the fps issues on the PC version.  My specs are way beyond the minimum system requirements & I should not have to unplug my controller in order to get decent fps in-game...
