maximum activation limit reached

Hi...

I just reinstalled Mass Effect 1 on my new Laptop, the install seemed to go well and the activation code was accepted during install, however when I try to run the game I receive a message informing me that the activation limit has been reached and to contact EA support for help.

Could you please reset my Mass Effect 1 activations?

Please let me know if you need any further details...

(Activation code on the reverse of the manual is: [Redacted])

    I'm having the same problem.

I purchased Mass Effect this afternoon via origin. At first I didn't even receive an activation code and it wouldn't run, I waited the best part of an hour for help, received a new copy of the game with activation code, uninstalled it and reinstalled it now I get the above message.

I would like either a working version of the game or a FULL refund tomorrow please!

Well 4 days on from buying the game on Origin I still haven't been able to play it.

I have spoken to 3 different advisors who have now escalated the issue on to a "specialist" who is apparently going to email me back. I've been waiting 3 days now.

I won't be downloading or purchasing anything via Origin and will be very reluctant to buy EA products in the future.

Perhaps the uninstall of the previous one didn't remove all references to the registration key in the registry?  I'm not sure where I would start looking, but if you happen to know your original registration key, you could do a search in the windows registry on that and see if anything comes up.  (I would actually only search the first part before the hyphen)

I don't have any better thoughts at the moment.
