I’m also having the issue. PS5 directly connected to LG CX TV and then using eARC to Yamaha surround receiver. No issue in other games only Mass Effect 1. Ugh!
Same here. I notice all dialogue from all cut scenes comes through back speakers on my 7.1 speaker system. On base PS4 Slim. It happens in cut scenes. During actual game play, squadmates dialogue are perfectly directional corresponding to each of my speakers. But it's the cut scenes, where the problem lies in which the surround mix is very is broken. This is from my experience so far playing ME1 (30 hours in).
I am confident that Bioware will fix this in an upcoming update. As with all new releases, there are always and updates iron them out.
I have done my part to add my voice in reporting this bug. Over to the hard working Bioware developers.
We will see.
Thank you and well done on a wonderful remaster asides despite the bugs mentioned which I trust will be fixed in updates coming soon.

These sound balance issues are absurd and the silence is frankly disgusting. I tried playing again after a week off, got to the part with the detonation on the Voyager Cluster. The explosion was so loud that it woke up my daughter - I already had the volume MUCH lower than usual because of the extremely loud gunfire (somehow this explosion, which comes out of nowhere, was much louder than even the already deafening gun sounds) and then the following dialogue was barely even audible. How was this released in this state?? It’s clear that no one tested this. It’s disgusting to charge a premium price for content most of us have played before, put a texture pack on it and call it down while introducing new problems and not fixing old problems. And I wouldn’t even be as upset if EA was not COMPLETELY silent about this. It is scummy and it is exactly what people hate about companies like this, take your money from fans in a cash grab and run, is that it?
Give us an ETA on when this will be fixed. At the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM admit the issue and say it is being addressed. I have avoided Origin and all EA products and I guess should not have made an exception for Mass Effect. I love the trilogy but this is not worth it and I feel like I have been fleeced - I will not make the mistake again and never give a cent to this company. Please prove me and others saying they will refund due to a faulty product wrong and at least pretend to have a shred of integrity.

I have this issue as well. It makes the game unplayable so I requested a refund since EA doesn’t seem to be working on a fix.

Really? The game is unplayable because sound effects and dialogue are also coming from the rear speakers? I mean, it sucks and I went with headphones for the majority of my playthrough as a result, but unplayable? Come on.
To me the loudness issues are much more of a problem, to be honest. The mass relay transition screen is so unbelievably loud that I had to mute my AV receiver every time. The same goes for gunfire (had to set sound effects volume to 40% to make it somewhat tolerable), and even the end credits song is at least 10 dB louder than the in-game audio. What a mess.
