ME1 does not run

Hi,

i installed ME1 and tried to start the game, but nothing happens. I tried without cloud saving and with it, repaired the game too. No luck.

Any suggestions?

  1.  It’s important to identify which product is experiencing the problem.

      a.   Is it the console version or the PC version?  (Edit: Most of this opening post here is strictly applicable to the PC version.)
       -> PC version

      b. Media: physical disk or digital download (and which vendor)
      -> physical disk

    2.  System Details

      a. Processor name / Core count / Core Speed / Main RAM Amount

       -> AMD Phenom II X4 / 4 / 4x3,4GHz / 8192 MB RAM

      b. Display Adapter / VRAM / Driver Version (just saying "latest drivers" doesn't help -- Edited: only ATI / nVIDIA cards are supported)
        GeForce GTX 560 GTi / / 9.18.13.697

      d. Operating System (& service pack if applicable)

      WIN7 64bit

      e. Direct X Version
      version 11

    3.  Problem Details

      a.  When it comes to problem details, think about the five basic questions: Who? What? When? Where?  Why? Okay, so “Who?” doesn’t really apply here, but the others do.

      ->see above

      b.  What?  What is the nature of the problem that you’re seeing?

         -> Game doesnt start

      c.  When?  When does the problem occur? Every time you engage in a particular action or only after so many hours of play?
        -> just after the first install

      d.  Where? Where does the problem occur? Is the problem localized to a particular planet or does it occur everywhere?

      e.  Why? As much as possible, can you isolate the problem to a specific set of steps?

The Game is patched to the last patch.

    Have you set the game as running at Administrator level?

    Yes i tried that too.

    BTW, the patch for WIN7 isnt running. Everytime i try to install the patch i get the message ME1 not installed, install it from the origin device.

    If the game is not actually fully patched, it fails in a variety of places in Windows 7, and I've never heard of it NOT patching, so I must assume your install is damaged, requiring an uninstall and reinstall.

    There never was more than just two of them.  There was 1.01, and 1.02.   You need to follow the problem reporting guide, for diagnostic data, even if the game did run previously.  Thank you.

    Please be more forthcoming.  Your last comment was that the patch itself was failing.  I've already reminded you that without 1.02, the game simply cannot run.

    Have you visited with any of EA's Game Advisers?  This is still new, as forums go, and the numbers of experienced game players are still comparatively low in here, so you possibly will get more prompt advice (at least you can with the Live Chat option) over there, faster than in here.

    Incidentally, I notice in your opening comments, you referred to Dx11.  ME-1 is four years old, almost (Xbox version, anyway), and was designed for Dx9.  It comes with Dx9 included on the game disk, and all versions of Direct3D are totally compatible with one another.  You can add Dx9 without disturbing Dx11.

    First read, then think then write Gorath. I told the game doesnt run and the patch failed. and the same problem is there after 2 new installs. If everything changed i would have mentioned it. The game dont work AND the patch failed too.

  • I see you say you have the disk?  If you do, try copying the entire disk to desktop in it's own folder, and install from that. also save the patch to your comp, then when done installing, simply run the patch.  It worked for me!  oh, to run the patch, me need not be running!
