ME2 BioWare DLC for STeam

I am a Steam user for ME2 and have purchased the Deluxe Edition.

Great game and so far the Cerberus Network content has been unlocked successfully.

I now want to explore some of the additional content like the Arrival Mission or Lair of the Shadow Broker or the Firepower Pack etc. as per the following link

http://masseffect.bioware.com/me2/info/dlc/

Do I have to buy this throug the BioWare site? Will it work on my Steam version of the game if I buy it from them and run the standard *.exe file it provides?

Thanks 🙂

  • The save files have the same default folder no matter what version you play. if you go from Steam to Origin, you can still load your files.

  • The downloads from the official website should work. If not, you could always just register the game again on Origin and try it there.

    OK thx!

So if it didn't work & I ended up registering on Origin would I still be able to use my save game files from ME1 that were generated from playing ME1 on Steam?

I suppose this question would also apply when I make it to ME3 which isn't available on Steam.

    Thx

    Sounds good!

I downloaded the Overlord DLC as a test and it worked fine so I went ahead and grabbed basically everything; Extra Missions & Equipment DLC's.

It is working fairly well but there are some bugs whenever I am playing a DLC mission.

Bug 1 - Re-Loading from an Auto Save now results in a 90% probability of crashing the game.

Bug 2 - Randomly a room or area will become infected with bad physics where I bump into invisible walls that prevent me from moving.

It also disables the SHIFT power menu or the ESC main menu which is exciting when I am in a room with enemies.

I am hoping that this is only restricted to the DLC content and does not "infect" the rest of the game, I will keep you posted.

    Otherwise thanks for your help!!

Apparently one of my power cables got too close to my Logitech Unifying receiver so the physics issue was nothing more than a disrupted connection.

Hopefully the IT Gods will not punish me for this misdiagnosis ☹️

So final verdict; some reload issues but otherwise everything works great!

You could quicksave and quickload instead. Does quick load cause any trouble?

Hmm possibly, but it is a bit tricky now as I have compelted all the DLC missions.

That issue was limited to the DLC content so until I redo ME 1 & 2 as a Renegade it may be some time before I am in a position to test that.

Thanks for the throrough follow up all the same 🙂
