ME:LE won't properly recognize keyboard and mouse

I got to the LE launcher, and my mouse is recognized because I can click on the first game. The options on this first launch screen do not include any kind of input or control option.  I get to the M...

    Disconnect any controller or other input hardware you might have > reboot > test.

LOL - you beat me to it. 

I came back to say I unplugged a joystick and restarted ME:LE, it was willing to talk to my keyboard and mouse.  That's an ugly bit of coding there on somebody's part, and no option to use anything else.

I don't own a gamepad, but the joystick is a Logitech Extreme3D Pro.

Edit - reboot was not required.
