Mining Seems Terrible Again, What Can Be Done?

I have never liked mining.  Okay, that is a lie.  Every game, I liked mining for the first 3 or 4 times I did it.  Then I hated it and that hate would build and build to the point where I basically stopped doing it at all.

I found this to be more true with this game... or sooner true.  You see, I looked at what I wanted to research and limited it to only a few things so as soon as possible I could not have to worry about mining.

But I hate mining so much that even though I would be willing to do another fresh playthrough, I'd rather stick to new game plus solely to avoid needing to mine (not that there aren't other benefits).

The idea of driving around, struggling to get up a mountain and falling all the way to the bottom of the same mountain trying to find the exact spot a mineral peaks is not fun to me.  In fact, I don't understand what a drone does if I have to do all the work.

Anyway, I do feel like mining has to be a part of this game.  It's tempting to say get rid of it, but I don't feel that would make sense.  So what are someways mining could be improved?

It doesn't necessarily need to be fun, but perhaps it could just be less tedious.

Ha! Yeah, I hear you on that.

One feature I'm wishing for is being able to GO ON SHIP WITHOUT TAKING OFF EACH TIME! because that would save me (and everyone i'm sure) a huge headache about going to the ship and "doing A B C".

And yeah, avoid Drack headlocks. And headbutts. He's got spike old age krogan spurs. Damn things break skin on us squishy humans fairly easy.

I think those planet scans where we find HUGE amounts of resources that turn out to be enough to craft only a handgun? Yeah, I think that those pods we unlock for minerals could be directed to mine scanned mining areas on remote locations, providing regular amounts of certain resources accordingly to where you direct them. When you have no pods, you would get a small amount of discovered mining place at first, but later, after unlocking those pods, you could make a profit from it, whilst helping supplying the Nexus.

For me, it would feel like an elegant point making other ordinary planets more useful then our currently once-in-a-lifetime visit.

The only thing I had a shortage of was uranium, which was fixed when I got to H-047C. Every dome has a lot of minerals inside the rock formations on the building side.

Yes, it's one of the cryo pods, but I think the problem is having to go back to collect the bonuses all the time. Delivered every 45 minutes? I just spent 12 hours of game time clearing all quests on 'New Tchunka' without visitng the Tempest. Delivered once per day, or simply to the Nexus, of which some use can be made by the Pathfinder, is imo a better option.

If I want to play 'collect 12 of this or gather 20 of that' I'll start a new WoW account with Blizzard. It really breaks the story to have the Pathfinder have to manually press the button to collect stuff. Doesn't he have a crew?

A thousand times this.  It's like what am I paying these people for if they aren't going to do anything.  And I know I'm not paying them but still.

But to be able to simply scout mining areas and then have the drones collect it for you or a mining outpost sets up there.  Or anything that doesn't involve me trying to position the Nomad in the exact perfect spot.
