Origin In-Game not working

Eh, I'm terrible with titles, but that's pretty much the issue I'm having.

So, I did contact Support via Live Chat about the first issue.

So, when I'm in ME3 in general, I can't get IG overlay to show. I try to invite "friends" to a match, not that I have any, and it tells me that I need to enable OIG - it's already enabled. I even changed it to All Games just in case but that still doesn't work. It's worked before, at least with Mirror's Edge, so I'm confused as to why it's not working now. Is it something I'm missing?

I'll supply additional information as it's requested.

Thanks!

Could you please try to clear your Origin cache and keep us updated:

Clearing your cache, or your Origin client temporary files, can sometimes help fix downloading or installation issues, like in cases where your game has downloaded partially but then become corrupted, or if there are folder permission issues blocking incoming data.

If you've purchased a game or in-game content and it's not showing up in Origin, or if a game is in your My Games list but doesn't launch correctly, clearing your cache might just do the trick.

If you're on a Windows computer:

    1. Make sure your Origin client is completely closed.
      • Do this by clicking Origin in the menu bar then selecting Exit.
    2. Head to your C: drive by clicking the Start or Window button on your desktop and selecting My Computer.
    3. Find and delete the "Origin"folders found in each of the following:
      • These folders are hidden by default, so you'll need to un-hide them by Showing Hidden Files to be able to delete them.
      • Open each folder by finding then double-clicking it.
        • C:\ProgramData\
          • On Windows XP, the ProgramData folder is located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application data\Electronic Arts\.
        • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\
        • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\
    4. Empty your Recycle Bin and you're done.

After clearing your cache, try logging into your Origin client to download and install your game again.

    • Whether you're a Mac or PC player, you might want to restart your computer in between clearing you cache and trying again.

    Cheers

    Basti

Uh, so I did do that and now, when I go to log in it wants me to create an Origin ID? I'm really nervous about this step now. I did do a password reset using my Origin ID (CactiHeart) and it wants me to fill that info back out??? With a couple of reports of people missing their games I'm terrified to go beyond this screen right now.

http://i62.tinypic.com/35a3dx0.jpg is what I see when I log in.

  • Weird. Think I got it sorted out, but going to test out the Multiplayer now.

  • No, OIG is still not working. It is enabled in my settings and ME3 did update after checking files.

I have the same problem. Here's a transcription of my chat with EA Game Advisor Karl David:

    Spoiler
Karl David: Thanks for contacting EA Customer Experience, my name is Karl David. How may I assist you today?
    you: Hi Karl
Karl David: Hi! Thanks for chatting in. May I please have your name?
    you: Eric
Karl David: Thank you, Eric. So, how may I help you today?
you: I'm having an issue with Origin In Game. Mass Effect 3 has started to not recognize that I have said feature enabled in Origin.
you: I therefore lack the ability to use it.
Karl David: Okay, so you are missing an in game feature? May I know what are you referring to?
    you: Origin's in-game overlay.
you: The white UI overlay I can use to chat with friends, invite them to games, etc.
you: It doesn't work in Mass Effect 3 anymore. It used to work fine.
Karl David: Hmmm... That's odd.. May I know when was the last time you were able to use it?
you: About a month or two ago.
you: I'm not sure on a specific time or date it changed.
Karl David: Okay, it's fine. Thank you for the information. Please give me 3-5 minutes to check for the possibilities here on our end.
    you: Okay.
Karl David: Thanks a lot for waiting. Okay, may I ask if have you already tried some troubleshooting steps?
you: I've tried some things. Anything in particular I should try?
Karl David: Yep! Let's try something. Could you please follow the steps provided here? http://help.ea.com/en/article/clearing-your-origin-temporary-files/
you: Okay, I'll report back soon.
Karl David: Thanks! Please keep me updated 🙂
    you: No change.
Karl David: Okay, let me check other things here.
Karl David: Okay, could you please try to repair your game ? http://help.ea.com/uk/article/i-cannot-load-my-game-from-origin-or-i-am-having-issues-in-game/
    you: Ok
    Karl David: Thanks!
    Karl David: Hi, still there?
you: Nothing different. It didn't need a repair.
Karl David: Okay, have you tried disabling and enebling the IGO back?
you: I've tried it at both the client level and the game-specific level.
Karl David: Great. So we're sure that it doesn't have a problem with that. Could you please try running your game in admin mode to see if it will make any changes by playing it on your default settings?
    you: Ok
    you: Nothing new.
Karl David: This is odd.. I'm checking some information here to see if this is working as intended now..
Karl David: Whoa, looks like other guys are experiencing this issue too http://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin/Origin-In-Game-Overlay-not-working-with-Mass-Effect-3/td-p/4333678
    you: Interesting.
you: I don't have much more time to chat unfortunately. Perhaps we could shelf this ticket for now? I could maybe get some diagnostic log files if the game will provide any.
you: Or Origin. Whoever the culprit happens to be.
Karl David: Yep. I was going to suggest you to uninstall andd reinstall the game thinking that it might help. Okay, I will be running a report about this. But I would also like you to post this issue on the forums for the developers to see it. How's that sound?
you: Sure, I can do that.
Karl David: Awesome! So, is there anything else for today?
    you: No thanks.
Karl David: I see. It's my pleasure assisting you today. You may now smoothly click the "end this chat" button to disconnect from this chat. Thanks again for chatting in and have a great day ahead!
    you: You too. Thanks!
    Karl David: Thanks, man!
  • I spoke with Azad A, but I don't have the chat log from it. He wasn't quite sure what was going on with it and suggested I post here for assistance. That's when I posted this and still been having issues ☹️ It'd be fantastic if EA actually had people to monitor all the subforums...

Edit: For EA employees, my case number is 17426394, though it's obviously not closed.

  • Does anyone already fix this problem?

I renewed my EA PLAY signature a few days ago and this error keeps me of invite or join a MP game with my friends.

I already searched on the web on how to solve this issue without any luck.
