[PC] Mass Effect 3 Won't Launch

@EA_Archi Hey, So I started ME3 short of a month ago, and it ran fine, no problems. A week ago, I had an update on Win10, and checked that nothing was affected from my steam folders or origin folder...

    OK, try this:

    • Make sure Origin and Steam are closed.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER
    • Move the "License" folder to your desktop.
    • Test.

Thanks again for getting back, I was thinking this was probably a lost cause. So, as per your instructions, I did all of the instructions to the end, rebooted my system, ran the OriginSetup.exe as admin. So after reinstalling Origin, i tried ME3 again (firstly verifying the files are validated [I.E. repair on Origin]) and I still get the same outcome: Origin loads, then refreshes back to main page, nothing. I get no error reports and no crashes, so back to square one. I don't know if I'm missed anything important, I did follow ALL the instructions to delete/uninstall Origin from program data files, and under the registry key. Please, if you can continue provide any other additional input or advice, I would appreciate it.

EDIT: I just noticed NOW that Origin is checking/verifying DLC from ME3, which I have never noticed before. Will check back after.

EDIT2: Nope, still nothing. Whether I open Steam or Origin, Origin just does a refresh, and nothing happens, again.

Ok, try this:

  • Turn the Cloud-save function in Origin and Steam off.
  • Make sure that Origin and Steam are completely closed.
  • Go to your "C:\Users\>your user name<\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 3" = "Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 3" folder and move the "Save" and the "BIOGame" folders to your desktop. > Test.

The standard path would be  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect3\Binaries"

Do you have the game on Steam or on Origin?

    Hi there,

    I am having the same problem with my game.

    I have put about 18 hours in the game, but after updating my windows 10 it suddenly doesn't start anymore.

    Could you take a look at my dxdiag as well?

      There is no specific ME3 error in your DxDiag as well but there are some system specific errors that could have an impact.

      What update was that specifically that broke the game?

      • Hit Windows key and X.
      • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered.
      • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
      • If no errors were found reaped steps 1 & 2.
      • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
      • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here.
      • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key and X again.
      • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
      • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “sfc /scannow” without quotes. >ENTER.
      • Post the message you receive at the end of the processes here.

        In the settings menu of my computer I accessed the update history and if I understand it correctly, the latest Windows update is Windows 10, version 2004.

        I tried the first two steps of your instructions multiple times, but it did not show any error messages.

        This is the code that showed:

    I tried the application file in that folder and it just brought up the origins launcher again. I purchased the game on steam.

        The advise in post #13 fixed the issue for me.

        I'm glad I found this thread as I experienced the same symptoms as described by @DeathXMetal92 in the first post; Mass Effect 3 refused to launch after the latest Windows10 update. The game worked like a charm before the update, but after that when launching the game Origin app opened and closed almost simultaneously, but nothing would happen. I purchased and installed the game via Steam.

        Almost 35 hours in and nearing the end, I'm now able to finish the story. Hope others experiencing the same issue will do as well.

    Hello again,

    I did as you requested (moved folders onto desktop) and launched the game. Still, the game does nothing, Origin opens then closes, no game starts and still, no errors or crash reports. Both Origin and Steam are closed and their cloud save data have been turned off. Every time I launch ME3, origin opens and closes twice, and when I re open Steam, it still gives the option "Play" game, instead of "Stop" which would usually indicate the game is running. I will not give up on this, I enjoy this game too much to let a simple computer * up ruin it for me, but I am slowly running out of options. Please, if you could continue to offer any additional support, I would appreciate it.

    EDIT: I tried your other suggestion from POST 13, moving  the LICENSE folder to desktop, and still getting the same results, Origin opens and closes twice, no errors or crashes.

      OK, delete the "License" folder on your Desktop (To Trash, not permanently)

      Delete the entire "Electronic Arts" folder under %ProgramData% (To Trash, not permanently)

      > Test. (Run the game from Steam.)

        Thanks for replying back quickly. I moved said folders to Trash, and launched from Steam, no changes. It says Stop for maybe a couple seconds, then pops back up to Play before the Origin windows pop up and close.
