The word I've seen on crashes such as those is that they are linked to a damaged file, either the save is partly corrupted, or a game file is damaged. Have you tried dfferent saves going to the same places?
Yes, I've played the game and it crashed on those specific locations, then I started another game and it crashes on the very same locations.
I reinstalled the game prior to starting a new game, so I don't think that the problem is with the game files or the save files.
Any other suggestions?
I know this is three years later, but did you ever figure this out. I'm new to Origin and playing Mass Effect is my first experience. I'm supposed to go to Chora's Den but the game crashes every time I try to go there.
Try to repair the game. (in Origin > my games > right click ME1 > Repair Game)
