The problem happens in Mass Effect 2 as well, though no other games on my computer (I've got many. Dishonored, Civ 4 and 5, Batman AC, swtor, Smite, Bioshock, WoW, and many others.)
When I go into Mass Effect 3, the startup animation with the EA logo goes fine, just as it's supposed to. But the minute it goes into the main screen, the one where it says "Press any key", it drops to maybe 1 frame per 3 seconds. The music plays fine without any lag, but when I press a key, the sound it makes when the camera fades upward lags along with the FPS. When it gets into the menu, it still takes just as long to load. The "communicating" circle appears on the top left screen and the "Checking for DLC" message is up in the center. The framerate is the same and after 10 or so minutes, the message is still up there and I can't do anything. I can't go into the in-game menu and I can't start a new game so at this point, I'm not sure what I should do.

Thank you for the help.
Hi twilightprince,
I strongly believe that what you are experiencing is a loss Connection to the EA Servers. Even without the actual message of "Your connection to the Mass Effect 3 Servers has been lost......" what you are describing sounds like that is what is happening.
