PC Version - post patch 1.05 - "loading shaders" taking too long
PC Version - After Patch 1.05
Eternal load screens - on first loading the game, it cycles through the "loading shaders" part multiple times and can take up to 5 mins to even get to the menu (this is with an I7 6700k and 32gb of Ram with a 8gb GTX 1070 played off of an SSD).
Then when you click "resume Game" it cycles through the shaders yet again, and takes another 5-10 minutes to actually load the game. Previous to the patch, I did not have this issue at all.
Playing on PC through Origin (Digital Super Deluxe edition)
Wow! Turning off vsync in the video game settings seems to eliminate all those shading loads for me. Result fast getting into a round now. Used to miss the first wave and more. Thanks for the tip.
A clean boot changed nothing, the game itself seems to be unsure of what it is doing as it cycles through the loading shaders part - it often starts at 1/1000 and get's to 999/1000 and then restarts etc. (Numbers aren't specific but just trying to point out what the issue is).
I have the game installed to a Seagate SSD, and have verified the game data through Origin.
The game itself ran fine before the patch but the patch has introduced this loading issue. I have also tested this with both the latest Nvidia driver (381.65) and it's predecessor (378.92) and the issue is the same.
Previous to the patch the game booted in seconds as did loading save files.
Edited to add - I play the game in fullscreen mode (no window). I use a secondary Pc to browse.
After the patch was the first time I noticed it saying "loading shaders" at all so the loading may be heavier post patch, but I only saw that message for a few seconds so something is clearly screwy for you.
So what could be the cause? You seem to have problem either writing to the disk or reading from it, but only to a certain extent. Any kind of security software could possibly cause this, and while it worked well before, the software could react differently to the patched game. Using clean boot should've worked in this case though, unless it's Windows Defender itself that's problematic.
You could try deleting shader files in case you have "temp" files that aren't cleaned up/updated properly. These are often calculated/created when you run a game for the first time or change settings, and so not necessarily part of the files that Origin checks. Though if you delete anything you should of course repair the game afterwards to make sure you have everything you need.
Another way that may clean up the shaders is if you drastically lower the graphics, restart the game and load a save, and then change the settings back and restart.
No Error Screen/Message/Report or what so ever ...
Updated and clean-installed nVidia Drivers and GeForce Experience, tried a clean-boot, game repair, deleted Game Files and reinstalled clean, set gamespecs to lowest, tried ratio adjust, set game recommendet Experience settings, disabled ingame overlays, all kinds of other forum ideas.. nothing worked what so ever....
DxDiag attached - my fascinatingly low hardware specs are in there again ...
anywho everything else runs fine ... no overheating anywere, all other games w/o problem .. only origin games except ME:A installed are currently ME:1-3 ......
I have the exact same issue. All loading now takes an eternity. Guess I have to wait for another patch for this game to be playable. Hey maybe by 2018 this game will get out of early beta.
I only know my vacation is pretty much screwd now ... 10 days off and no ME:A ..
BTT: only thing I found screwd on my comp was I'm missing the vcred 2015 x86 .. tried installing it and it tells me there is already a version installed ... tried to find it .. couldn't find it anywhere .. tried installing again no chance ... the x64 is all fine ... uninstalled x64 again and tried to install x86 first same problem ..
but somehow I don't have the loading too long .. part .. initial start up is quite fast ... just resuming game crashes on building shaders ... =__="
After almost giving up I finally tried something with "Shader Cache" and finally it fixed the problem for me and hopefully for all of you with this issue. (the fix is meant for Nvidia-users, AMD-users can also try this fix, but I don't know where file will be located)
The solution:
Delete Geforce Experience first and then using Display Driver Uninstaller delete your current Nvidia-drivers completely using this option: Clean and Shutdown (For installing a new graphic card)
After booting install the latest Nvidia-drivers manually with or without Geforce Experience (doesn't really matter), then reboot your PC.
VERY IMPORTANT: After rebooting go to > Nvidia Control Panel > 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings > Shader Cache Turn it from "On" to "Off" Then go to your "C:\Users\YOUR_PC_NAME\AppData\Local\Temp" and inside "Temp" delete the folder "NVIDIA Corporation" But if you don't see that folder, that's fine. Then you must reboot your PC to take effect.
After rebooting go back to > Nvidia Control Panel > 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings > Shader Cache Turn it from "Off" to "On" Then go to your "C:\Users\YOUR_PC_NAME\AppData\Local\Temp and inside "Temp" create the folder: NVIDIA Corporation and inside that folder create another folder: NV_Cache But if you already see NVIDIA Corporation folder there, check inside it for the folder NV_Cache, if it's there, that's fine if not, then create it. Then you must reboot your PC to take effect.
Then you're almost golden. Boot-up the game, the first boot will take long yes, but that's normal because it's saving the cashes inside NV_Cache (check inside it for files like .bin & .toc) Once you're fully in the game, exit completely from it.
Then boot-up the game again and within 5-10sec the Main Menu will load, then within 15-30sec your save-game will load. (if you're using an SSD like I am)
so far didn't work for me ... gotta recheck the whole process while my kids aren't jumping up and down my nose ...
but I only got the NVIDIA Corp folder in "Local" hardly anything in "temp"
created the folders at said points and got a few .toc and .bin files in there now
but game still crashes at the same point of the loadscreen 😢
Edit1: Okay I just tried starting a new game via quicklaunch .. so far so good .. I just can't get my old game back on ... gotta find a safe prior to Aya maybe that works ... and check how to turn of the choice numbering in dialogs .. hell thats annoying xD
Edit2: yes it seems to be Aya ... loaded a save from tempest after freeing the Moshae and no problems O.o" .....
