I've recently started playing Mass Effect 1 LE. I'm really enjoying it, but the sound quality is inconsistent and, basically, terrible. I have to have the subtitles on to know what's being said in ab...
Thanks for the quick reply. I have done verified the software integrity through steam and reinstalled it 3 times each. I've tried it on different listening devices and the issue persists. I was hoping that there is some system adjustment I could make to the audio in my computer or within the game. Thanks
PS, I am an avowed luddite. I struggle with technology. This is one of the first games in years that ive played.
Is the volume simply too quiet to hear, or are you saying the audio is somehow garbled or distorted as well?
Within the game, the only audio options would be the sliders to adjust the different volumes for each category individually. Afraid there's not many more options to be had aside from these when it comes to the game audio.
Gotcha! If it's just a matter of the volume itself, try pressing the Windows key and typing Sound Settings into your Windows Start menu. That should bring up the Sound control panel for Windows.
You should be able to make sure the device you're using is selected in the Output menu (speakers, headset, etc.), and adjust the overall system volume here.
You can also scroll down on that same page to the Advanced sound options section and click the App volume and device preferences option.
That section will let you adjust the volume for individual programs you have open to try and address this through Windows settings instead.
If you go through those steps after Mass Effect is open, it should appear in this list to let you manually adjust the overall Windows volume for the program. That would be the other option to check in this case, aside from whatever physical controls you have to manually adjust volume on your speakers/headset.
Thanks, but that didn't help. I really appreciate all of your help.
I've been trying to really figure what the problem is and how best to describe it. At first I thought it was a setting issue, but now I don't. It's pretty clear that it's in the game. When my character is being briefed, the sound is usually fine, and when i'm in an elevator I can barely hear it. Additionally, when there is a cut scene with dialogue in it, the sound goes down too. It's really annoying. There are other instances where there are problems that I need more time to fully identify.
