Question about customizing Shepard for Mass Effect 3 final run (Related to import bug)

I honestly wasn't all that satisfied with my last playthrough of ME 1 & 2 about a year ago so I've decided to replay the trilogy now that I've got all the DLC for Mass Effect 3 (I went a year without internet at home!) I've kinda played out the "paragade" stuff and simply want to play straight paragon and renegades now.

Anyway, from what I've discovered, the most common "bug" when moving a custom Shepard through the games is when in ME 2, if you go into the customization section of character creation, this often screws up the face port for ME 3. I did this (I believe simply to adjust skin tone) and it showed when I tried to move my last character to ME 3 testing out the game.

So what I want to know is if you DON'T go into customization in ME 2, will this give you a Shepard fairly close to your original design, at least for enjoyable play? I have no problem tweaking it a little since it's the last game, but I have no desire to get a default pre-customized face again after spending 100+ hours in the games. If there is no easy solution I'll just go with the default Shepard. (Who I like, of course)

  • There are several ways to get the face of your Shepard imported properly. Here is a method for Xbox and PC click. If you have a Femshep (at least it says it doesn't work for male-sheps, but might be worth a try) your best bet would be the fan-created Lazarus editor. If that fails I'm afraid you'll have to stick to a standard-Shepard if the face you can create in ME3 doesn't get close to your Shepard.
