Re: Frosty Mod Engine "One or more symbolic links could not be created"

@veniino So unfortunately for me the issue turned out to be that the drive the game and mod launcher were installed on, is formatted in the exFAT type of format, which doesn't support the symbolic links that the frosty mod engine creates. And seeing as I don't want to delete all my other stuff on the drive just to play MEA, I am out of luck. Might be a similar issue for you?

@Holman4672 oh * dude thanks for bringing this up, I luckily have another drive that isn't exFAT so now I'm trying to free up space on there to reinstall battlefront. sorry man I hope you can figure it out.
  • I'm having a similar issue with Mirror's Edge Catalyst, except there is no error message after hitting 'Launch', just nothing happens afterward. That game application appears in the Processes of Task Manager for a second, then disappears. My drives the mod manager and game are on are NTFS also, so it can't just be an exFAT issue. I don't know if you ever found a fix for this problem, but looking around, a number of people had FMM break and not launch any games for them after the Windows 10 2004 update. I don't know if this is a related to the exact same problem you are having, but just putting it out there. Have seen fixes for the same problem with FIFA19 with remote dll's, but haven't seen them for other games.

  • You can fix it by moving the game in any NTFS drive folder, either that or obviously the not so optional format,I also have this issue but mine is a unrepairable one cause my game mods and mod manager are all in my C drive which is NTFS formated and this issue still appears,it worked yesterday just fine but today this popped out.

delete mod data from the game golder also delete the cache from mod manager and delete frosty from %localappdata% and then try to add the mods again,if the issue persists then maybe a datapathfix should be added.

  • @Holman4672 heh i have the same issue except to me the game is installed on C drive which is ntfs based i also launch the mod manager using admin rights and yet the error still appears.it worked just fine the other day so i dont understand how i got here and why

Thanks! Looks like that was the issue. I moved the game to a different drive and then it worked.
