And you get the exact same error message? "Failed to initialize the physics system."
Did you tried to repair PhysX under "Programs and features" in the Windows Control panel?
With "legacy PhysX" you mean the PhysX version that came with the game?
It does not give an option to repair the current version only uninstall.
I repaired the legacy version (which you can get from the Nvidia site) that was suggested but it had no effect.
Ok, first, forget Origin, this is not a problem with Origin.
- Go to your ">drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\__Installer\physx\redist" folder and run (not repair) the "PhysX-9.11.1107-SystemSoftware.msi" > restart > test.
- If that don't works, download the NVIDIA PhysX software from here.
- deinstall the NVIDIA PhysX software from the Windows control panel > restart > install the downloaded NVIDIA PhysX software > restart > test.

If you are lucky the disk version will install PhysX correct right from the beginning.
OK tried the "Run" not repair option but firstly there is not an option to do that I just double clicked it and it said "The currently installed version of the drivers is newer than what you are trying to install, aborting the installation."
You did try to run the game first? (Just to make sure)
Alright the PhysX issue is now gone but it says it has to do an "Online Release Check" which I said yes to but this says there was an error and to click a link to http://eauk.custhelp.com/ but this says "Can't reach this page"
Repair the game. (in Origin > Game Library > right click ME3 > Repair)

Well the ran the repair and it has gone back to the PhysX error. Truly no idea what to do now, have spent 4 hrs on this today.
Did you reinstalled the NVIDIA PhysX software or was the error gone after the disk installation?
Error was gone after disc installation, but that's when I got the online check error.
OK did that and launched Origin which is now auto updating DLC which had already installed so can't select play yet. Hopefully only 5 to 10 minutes

This was an odd thing, but it worked and I am back in-game in minutes 🙂

Please create a DxDiag in text file format, also go to your Reliability monitor (Press the windows key and "R" at the same time and copy or type "perfmon /rel" (without the quotes) in > ENTER and look if it has ME3 entries.
If yes double click at the last one, copy it to the clipboard, (Bottom left corner) save it to a text file and load it up together with the DxDiag. You can do that with the "choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.
So you get the same error at installation? (Failed to initialize the physics system)
Did you tried to install the PhysX software in this way?
- Download the PhysX software from here.
- De-install the PhysX software from the Windows control panel > reboot.
- Run the "PhysX-9.16.0318-SystemSoftware.exe" as Administrator > reboot > test
I did it now again as you said (uninstall physx, reboot, install newest downloaded physx driver as administrator, reboot) and i get the same error message when i try to launch the game from the origin client.

Is ME3 the only games with problems?
Please go to your ">drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 2\__Installer\physx\redist" folder and run the "PhysX-9.12.0613-SystemSoftware.msi" > remove > reboot > go back and run the "PhysX-9.12.0613-SystemSoftware.msi" again.
If that don't helps, run the Windows System File Checker Sfc /scannnow and post the concluding message.
