Hoping someone finds the file to alter and makes a mod that extends their duration indefinitely.
Yeah i just used to forget that they even exist. Especially in the middle of a prolonged firefight i cannot track when i emptied 3 clips because there are other things i have to pay attention on.
This making me charging into the battle with an ammo type loaded and then when it runs out, it runs out finishing the battle just like that.
At least people who reload constantly like me, when there are no enemies to shoot at or im forced to cover, not wasting the bonus ammo because the game doesnt care how many times you reload, but how many bullets you fire in total.
I generally resort to this only with heavily armored enemies, and not much else (so a fiend, a hydra or a destroyer).

Make them a mod instead. A mod for a mod.
Consumables have some issues. You can't easily see what hot-key to use for which consumable. There is no icon for using life support (nor any message if you can't use it or how it works).
The HUD needs some fixing so that this is no longer an issue.
