Same for me as well nothing works.
I got all three games to work, but only if I run Origin as an Administrator, which is a stupid idea.
Launching game from another windows profile helped me. Problem might be that my main windows profile system folder name in 3 english symbols long and the game cannot write files or something. A windows profile system folder name from which the game launched succesfully is 7 english symbols long. I hope this information will help.
would not be so bad if EA or BW would say hey we know this is a issue and are looking in to it or something like that
100%. When your launcher works but the game doesn't on "launch day", it's time to say something. I've tried all the recommendations (accent in username, disconnect headset), nothing. It's a really nice loading screen!
Disabling OneDrive folder protection helped me to start ME1 finally
You can try this guide, option 2
Also try to turn on this:
Start > Control Panel > Region > "Administrative Tools" tab > click the "Change Locale" button.
Here you have the option : "Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support".Then reboot and try starting the games
@DistortedShapesThis helped! thank you. Also, creating a new win user helped.
@DistortedShapesThis worked for me, it's seems my issue was linked to the fact that my Windows account folder name had special characters in it.
- @DistortedShapes This worked for me as well. Thank you for suggesting this.
(My issue seemed to be caused by the 'ä' letter in my Windows username) - @DistortedShapes Man, this work!!
Thanks dude, this worked!
- @DistortedShapes This worked for me and I don't even have any unusual characters in my username or profile path. 🤷♂️
- liveinthehills4 years agoSeasoned Newcomer@DistortedShapes Thank you very much! I tried every solution for the last 4 hours and nothing helped. Even new user accounts didn't help. Yours finally made the MELE work!
Here are my conclusions, maybe this will help someone ! I think the game is trying to create a save file in the Documents folder, unfortunately I had moved this folder to a folder named with special characters (é and è, salut les francais). So I moved my Documents folder to a folder without accents and it works ! So don't just check the special characters in your windows username, but the entire path to the Documents folder!

Thanks, it worked ! I also had a "é" and a "è" in my name. I had changed the name of my Microsoft account to remove those characters but it did not work until I activated that option in the control panel.
Bon jeu les français !
