- @puzzlezaddict No dice, unfortunately. It downloaded four files (not sure how to tell which), but it still breaks when I finish that mission. It does do something different now, in that it hangs infinitely while playing ambient noises rather than crashing, but the effect is the same.
@SuperSemantic Please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also let me know what sound output device you're currently using and whether the problem persists on a different device with a different type of connection, e.g. built-in speakers vs. headphones connected via jack.
Attaching my dxdiag to this reply. I'm currently on my speaker audio output on the back of the tower, which runs to headphones. I've got two other options that I'll check real quick and edit this post to mention if swapping to them changes anything.
EDIT: I have no earthly idea how you called it, but swapping to an output source that isn't even connected to anything (Realtek HD Audio), as opposed to my speaker output or NVIDIA HD Audio (which are connected to my headphones and monitor respectively) got me past the hang point. So... Thank you, even though I am utterly baffled as to how you figured this was the problem.
@SuperSemantic It was actually your comment:

If you'd like to troubleshoot this issue further, i.e. get your original device working with ME, let me know. Otherwise, it sounds like you have a good-enough workaround.
Was the game crashing on both, the speaker output and the NVIDIA HD Audio?
