Really Bioware? Stealth patching?

Probably the lowest thing I've seen from the studio ever - to patch a known exploit and not even detail it in the patch notes - really hoped you could slide it under the rug huh?

In case anybody is wondering what I'm on about - it's the research glitch we had for Strike Teams, to make every reward convert into research points.  Now they've taken that away from us - but on the other hand have done nothing to improve research acquisition rates.

I've been posting about this since the end of my 4th playthrough.  There is NOT enough damn research points in this game.  I shouldn't have to play a game 15 times to be able to craft whatever I want, especially since 99.99% of the time, it's theory crafting and I don't even plan to use the weapon.

All you've done is take something away, something we were using to alleviate a problem - but you did nothing to help us with that problem, basically you have kicked us in the nuts.

This glitch was the one single reason I still had the Apex app on my phone, and why I would go on Andromeda every day to research some stuff.  Now I'm going to delete the all but worthless app, and I'm going to stop logging in every day to check on my stuff.  Basically this game just entered full stagnation for me, I have literally no reason to turn this game on.  I've beaten it 4 times and all you've left me with is a pointless and near endless grind for Research data.  Consider the game uninstalled until such a time you increase the rate we get the research points at.

And for shame Bioware really?  Not to even mention in the patch notes that you fixed a bug or exploit?  Instead you stealth deployed it.  That's just an A-hole thing to do.

The last patch also had a few bug fixes that didn't make the changelog. The smaller things get omitted, I assume because it would make the patch log way too long.

I find long patchnotes awesome :eahigh_file:

Thus, I feel that the debugging was taken seriously. 😇

What does not automatically mean "Short Patchnotes are comparatively bad" 🙂

They even patched the buy/sell glitch on the badlands at the turian merchant. No easy credits anymore ☹️.

    Everybody seen that coming though.

didn't even realize that was a glitch, figured it was a supply and demand type thing.

    Good for you BioWare.

good for them because they fixed an exploit but ignored the problem it was fixing?  And then left research data rates abysmal as can be?  I don't see how that's good on them.

I wouldn't be mad the exploit was gone if they actually fixed the real problem, which is the unnecessarily low data acquisition.

  • If you are on the PC just use the Trainer and end all manner of annoyances, and just play the game the way you want to. You don't need to rely on glitches or exploits then. Or, wait for the Modding tools to come out and either edit the game yourself, or download mods where no doubt people will solve these tedious game design decisions.  If you are on console then..well..you are stuck with whatever decisions the developers have made, for whatever reason.

It's good that they fix exploits and to be honest, some achievements should be long term. It's kinda silly if you can clear all achievements in 2 weeks or something. The exploit is fixed, your "problem" may not be a problem in BW's books to begin with.

And if more people find it problematic then they can up the rates in a different way.

Oh and it's pretty standard for BW to not discuss exploits. They prefer not to talk about it unless it's a big enough deal that they can't get around it.

Personally I prefer more detailed patch notes, but exploit fixes I don't care about as long as they get fixed. And this one did. Time to move on.
