I have reached out to tech support several times and I get the same run-around. I can download AND PLAY ALL my EA games THROUGH the EA app EXCEPT ME1. It failes with some generic message about "our servers failed, give us a short time and try again"
This is the tech support message I get, and I have following and NONE of it works.. it has COMPLETELY wasted my time... reinstalling, redownloading,....
I continue to reach out to tech support and my case gets suspended with instructions to do the following:
Thank you for contacting EA. My name is Siddharth and I would assist you with your EA account issue today.
I have reviewed your email and came to know that you have issue with your unable to download your game. You do not need to worry, I'll surely do my best to help you with my assistance.
So, I would request you to please go through the below troubleshooting steps link:
https://help.ea.com/help/ea/ea-desktop/troubleshoot-game-download-install-load-issues/
Thank you for contacting EA and have a great day.
It's the same boxed message from anyone... and NONE of those solutions work. NO matter how many times I explain it, EA does not care.
Let me recap here:
All games I own install just fine through EA app, EXCEPT ME1 which bails with a generic can't download now, give us another try later message.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one with this issue. I feel like I'm going crazy with how much I've essentially been shooed away by tech support. I'm going to try contacting them yet again because this is getting ridiculous, and I feel like their last suggest to post the issue here was just a way to dismiss me. I realize it's an old game, but it's still a product we paid for and it shouldn't be so much to ask that we can still play it when EA causes an issue with their platform.

The new EA App seems to be causing all sorts of problems for the Mass Effect games. I've seen a ton of posts attesting to a myriad of issues, many that are intermittent. The solution used to be "don't use the EA App, use Origin instead". This was never of use for someone who had the ME games through GamePass since they were only accessible via the EA App (then in Beta). But now it won't work for most since EA has been forcing people to migrate to the EA App. A redditer posted a solution to this by disabling the forced migration (i.e., continue to use Origin). Here's a link to that post:

In theory, this will allow you to use Origin, at least for a while, which hopefully doesn't have the same issues for you. Again, this will not work for you if you only have the ME games through GamePass or EA Play, IIRC.
- 2 years ago@DoctorDAM Thanks for the post! I can't even find the Origin app anymore. I don't mind using EA's new app, I get progress and change, it just needs to meet its original goal of allowing us to play what we paid for. Thanks for this post and the Reddit link.. I did look into this, but can't download/find the Origin app.

Thanks for taking a moment to share your experience with the community.
When you have a moment can you try the below steps (if you have not already)
- Run the System File Checker tool then Check for Windows and GPU updates
- Install/Repair your VC++ files for the game (Microsoft VC++ Link)
- Try the Game in different Compatibility settings
- Check for other applications that may be limiting EA App or Game performance
- Put your device in a Clean Boot then launch the game
Cheers!

Hi EA_Illium,
Thanks for responding! I have tried these solutions and ME1 still will not download. I do not have any pending updates for Windows and I am on the latest drivers for my GeForce 8800 GTX. I have exceptions for the EADesktop and Background service for it.
I can't do a clean boot to launch the game or try in different compatibility setting since I cannot download it. Still cannot download ME1 via EA App.

Just want to add that @5a50e1686baf9879 and myself have done these steps (numerous times, in my case at the very least) and keep getting sent this information by tech support. I have my own post with my details here if it helps to get a solution at all.

@FaceCombat Thanks for the support! I tried your suggestions and Holger's... I am completely stuck. At this point I really do not know what to do. I have paid for a game, actually three of them, that I cannot play. I don't know where to go at this point.
I give.. EA you win.

None of these work... can someone around EA actually fix something... or... ?

If you have downloaded and installed ME2 to only be presented with this:
Invalid License: Reason Code = Missing DLL: [d3dx10_39.dll] Error: 0x7E
You need to install this: Download DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Official Microsoft Download Center for Windows. From Microsoft's web page:
The Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime installs a number of runtime libraries from the legacy DirectX SDK for some games that use D3DX9, D3DX10, D3DX11, XAudio 2.7, XInput 1.3, XACT, and/or Managed DirectX 1.1. Note that this package does not modify the DirectX Runtime installed on your Windows OS in any way.
This is my build:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
Processor: Intel Core2 Quad Q9550
Video: GeForce 8800 GTX
Motherboard: ASUS G41C
Storage:
ssd #1 - 1tb for OS
ssd #2 - 2tb for games (this is where the EA App is installed)
After that install, and without a reboot or repair of ME2, it worked. Now however, ME3 is tanked... ME1 still tanked... no clue on these... guess I will post here or review the posts.

Quick follow up for others.. ME3 was suffering something very similar to this. I played ME2 a bit, then did other things on my PC.. nothing Earth shattering. Rebooted and used the EA App to repair ME3. Repair your game via EA App by hovering your mouse over the game tile (icon of the game in the EA App you have installed) click the ellipses in the top right and click repair. It looks like it sort of re-download the game and all the DLC's.
Decided to give it a shot.. POOF! It now plays. So, got ME2 working by installing Microsoft DX (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=35), got ME3 working after (best guess) repairing, rebooting.
Just need help with why ME1 will not download. I looked into the EA Desktop logs and it almost looks like the product id is pointing to ME2.. but without someone at EA I am simply guessing..
