I find Liam just to be ick. He looks like an emaciated drug addict with his shirt off. He seems to be worthless in battle and he never makes sense. He even calls you a * after you finish his loyalty mission. Seriously, who would date a guy that put a parrot up his butt?
It is very, very early in the story where Peebee makes it known she really likes Jaal. Jaal, in my opinion, is hands off for a leader at that point.
Reyes is fun and everyone talks about your relationship with him except the two people in the relationship. Even Addison has her two cents about it. To get this, ask Addison what people think of the ouposts. Actually, speak to her after every outpost; the option isn't highlighted but she has new dialogue. Nothing like being locked in a serious relationship without actually discussing a relationship. After the patch and the fifth time going to Kadara hoping there might be more than just the email, you get to say we kissed then nothing. Oh, before you enter the building in Meridian, turn around and look, I believe that is Reyes standing there. He joined you in the last battle before entering the building. You do not get the option to say anything but he is there.

Yeah I romanced Reyes and regretted it the most time...don't get me wrong his romance is awesome, but it is kind of not existing after his quest and for it was 30 hours to go without a relationship and without the possibility to even flirt with someone. No mail (despite the one right after the quest) and when I visit him he says "I hoped you stopped by" (something like that).
And in the end:
So this romance is awesome, but just non existent most time of the game.

Well, I think the basic formula for both male and female romances should attend at least one between this list:
- Beautiful looking
- Hard worker
- Alien
- Just for banging
- Long lasting
It might have other points. One character can be both beautiful and provide a long lasting relationship. Others, might be ugly for just one night. But I think there must have at least 1 or each category to cover most of what people would want, at least partially.

The best romance in the Mass Effect games was Jeff and the female AI (name escapes me). They truly came to love each other and that was awesome. I kind of wish that SAM was an option because he's already a part of my character. It could even be like that movie "Her" and then maybe eventually he gets a body?
All the interactions feel forced in this game. I am constantly scrambling to talk to everyone and try to do all my missions as well and then there's the emails...
Currently I am hoping to start a romance with Jaal (I'm playing a female Ryder) and he's 'annoyed' with me. I honestly don't know why he's annoyed. Is it because I destroyed the Exaltation site? Who knows.
My favorite romance for my main character in all the games was Thane. He was just awesome. I'm hoping that Jaal will be half as good.

That's heresy. EDI is the name.
And decent characters should always offer decent romances. Thane, as well as Liara, Vetra and Jaal, all fall in that group.
