    This seems to be a monitor issue instead of a Mass Effect / OS issue. Did you by any chance change monitors? Usually there should be a monitor setting of "pass through" or "no rescaling" or "native" in its menu so that the monitor won't scale the picture to fit the screen but outputs pixel-per-pixel (which would result in the black borders you described).

    Usually these distortions are due to a "fit-to-screen" setting. There may be a "fit-to-aspect-ratio" setting that should enlarge the picture, but not distort the aspect ratio.

If i understood u correctly, the black borders are present in the main menu,but now during gameplay ? I dont know if this will help u in any way, but i had a simillar problem. I had those borders u talk about, but i was tring to get rid of them. No matter what resolution i chose, t hey were there. I fixed that issue with the help of the Video Control panel of my video card. I dont know what VC u have. I'm using NVIDIA. When i right click on the desktop i have the option NVIDIA control panel. I go to Adjust Desktop Size and Postion, then select Adjust desktop size and position. Under that option, i can select Override the scaling set by games..maybe that option is selected and that's why u dont have the black border, no matter what resolution u choose. If you're using an ATI video card - i'm pretty sure there is a similar option u can choose...i think it was under Aspect ration in the ATI control panel. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately that's not quite it, I wish I had screenshots available from before this happened so I could show you the side-by-side comparisons.

The borders were present on the Loading screens, the main menu and the title screen, while the actual gameplay was fullscreen.  Now the loading screens, main menu and title screen are all full screen (no borders at all) and the actual gameplay is magnified by a similar proportion (present in both ME3 and ME1, I haven't checked ME2).

The result is that my graphical performance has taken a nosedive going from smooth gameplay to very choppy at the exact same graphical settings they were at before.

I'd like to avoid having to uninstall and re-install all 3 games and loose all my save games in an effort to clear whatever caused this, especially because I'm not really sure that that'll work.  I've tried updating my driver and catalyst control center but that was a bust (using ATI btw, sorry for not mentioning that before).

      Update your grahic drivers of your card. Plus check it under options and go to your ME 3 dir under Origin dir

      Something like this

      C: games ( my install dir)

      C:\ GAMES\ORIGIN\Mass EFFECT 3\Binaries ( masseffect3config run that go to video and check screen res in there and change and save if needed.

      Its like the one for ME 1 & 2

      That should fix it for you. If not

      try repair game tab in Origin.

        Sorry my RL took up almost all of my time the last few days otherwise I would have responded sooner.

        I updated my driver to the latest one before posting here, unfortunately that didn't do anything (but overall I needed to do that anyway so it wasn't a waste of time, lol).

        I'll give the other two a shot though, honestly I didn't even know there was a game repair tab in origin I'll have to try and find it.  Regardless of whether or not it works, thanks.
