You are probably right, in addition to that I believe scene specific dialogues as sequences are attached to it as well.
I stated somewhere earlier that they should make a work around. A watered-down version of the interior, that looks and feels similar, but maybe does not come with all the features attached.... Or if that is too much, just the Cargo Bay
Hm ... we actually want to access information and small things in the Tempest, right? What about you have a small menu off-shore showing the things you can do in your ship without really going there? It becomes an assumption that you went to your ship etc., but the factual thing is that a menu of the map of your ship will appear with hotspots for your to choose: e-mail terminal, load out, researching etc.
Whenever you got to your ship, you would have 2 options: take off and fast access. That way, it wouldn't require Terabytes of data knitted as excuses not to make it viable.

Well a much simpler and maybe even more RPG plausible way would be to simply fit the Tempest with heavy metal shutters for all the windows that will close when grounded, when you think about it a lot of these worlds are extremely hostile and it would be a good idea to shield the craft and occupants by fortifying any weak spots such as windows and this way you would not have to render an exterior for each planet 😉
I know it would be cool to have an "open-world" Tempest where you could drive your Nomad directly into the cargo bay (personally I always drive it all the way up the ramp before I get out and manually access the Tempest hehe), but like it has been pointed out it would require a massive amount of work to make this possible and I don't think it will be worth spending the time or resources on it when other things are more pressing 🙂

That would be bare minimum, like an MVP or so..... For me I would love to overview a planet from the Bridge and My Cabin as well as see the lighting in the gathering room.
Also actually driving into the ship would be amazing, so the most plausible MVP would be to "just" render the Cargo Bay and have every door gooing away from that part shut (blablabla radiation blablabbla decontermination process.....) something llike that as an explanation.
And I stated somewhere else that your buddies should roam around the colony IF it is a safe colony (EOS, New Tuchanka, etc...)

I understand where you are coming from and it would be really cool, but again the problem with this is that it would require a lot of work which could be better spent on other more important aspects of the game, it would basically just be fluff.
For me the most important part is getting the mechanics of the feature so that we are able to enter the Tempest planetside without the long video sequence 🙂

This is one of the things I also think would be really cool, even though again this would also just be fluff, the problem with it which makes it a lot of work is that it could be problematic setting up the markers for your companions who normally hang out in this area, which quite a few of them do, not to mention the stuff like the space hamster and the space monkey, they would either have to be moved out of this area completely or need to be set up for every single planet 🤔

The un-teamed squadmates roaming around wouldn't even be that difficult to pull off. You're only adding like what, four more NPCs to each colony? Couple extra hours of writing dialogue, a day or so of additional recorded voicework, and you get something considerably more believable than "two of you with me, rest have fun twiddling your thumbs aboard the Tempest."
Because we all know Drack, Jaal and Vetra wouldn't stay cooped up for long. Of course, we're also always taking them because the rest of the characters are boring and/or aggravating, but that's an entirely different problem. 😉

I'd even be happy with a "room/remote terminal" on each colony, settlement that has access to email, clothing, R&D, APEX, AVP etc.
Then, if you want to get creative, have it be the place in the settlement where all the Crew hang out.... except for Gil. He needs stay on my ship. With the engine. Chained to it. Working.
MAKE IT GO FASTER, GIL!
"I already did..."
"FASTER FASTEST! Gil!"*locks the door*
"I'm the Pathfinder!"
*spits*

I bet if you could make mods for the Tempest like you do for the Nomad, plenty of people would build this one just so they could access the ship on planet.

Well, the size Tempest on the planet is extremely smaller than the one when we are inside 🙂
I extracted models from the game when on planet. If you remember all the rooms, elevator, drivecore, avp table, quarters, you can see none would fit inside Tempest at all while on planet. It would still need to load a different setup.
You cant move around on Tempest while on planet 😉

How many meters long is the exterior model versus the interior, BTW? I just had a small conversation about that on SB.com, because I knew that the interiors were not matching up with the exterior.

You are correct, the interior of tempest is 3 maybe 4 times bigger than the hull. It doesn't fit at all inside the ship. You could fit 3 Nomads inside the bridge and you'd still have some room left LOL
Here it is.

Oddly, it looks like length is about right, but yeah at least the Interior is at least two times too tall and two to two and half times too wide.
Squashing the internals (well, to a minimum with the crew quarters) would probably make everything pretty tight. (And probably really, realistic compared to real ships.)

Yeah you're right. It's very easy to notice difference when you jump on the Tempest on Eos at your first land lmao
If you imagine how far is Kallo and Suvi from eachother while your're between them on the bridge, and add Peebee's room to all that, then it doesn't fit at all inside.
Or in the quarters if you stand next to radio, and see how far is Sam across the room, then you could see the tempest is not that wide when your'e on top of the hull outside.
I remember when i jumped on the hull Kallo said: "Really?....Ryder" 😎
