It took me a good hour or so to figure this out. I did not edit the GamerSettings.ini file.

I tried to import an "AutoSave.pcsav" file, a "QuickSave.pcsav" file, and a "ChapterSave.pcsav" file. None of the three worked. So I re-downloaded my save game file that was in the following format: "SaveXXXX.pcsav", where "XXXX" is the number. So this file was Save 5; that is, "Save0005.pcsav". That was placed into the C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\Save folder in a new folder called "CharacterName_XX_Soldier_XXXXXX" (with the X's as numbers). The format of the folder name DOES matter; look up how to format the name properly.

Now, I had recently re-formatted my computer and copied the old save folder onto the new installation of Windows. ME3 didn't find anything in the folder, so I just changed one of the numbers on the end (the "XXXXXX" in "CharacterName_XX_Soldier_XXXXXX") and it picked it up just fine.

Don't ask me to explain how this worked, but it worked. Aliens.

A few notes I got from other forums:

    • Your save will only be considered "complete" and thus recognized by ME3 if you click "Continue" after the credits at the end of ME2 and then make the save aboard the Normandy.
    • If you died at the end, your save cannot be imported.
    • Your saves MUST be in a properly named folder to be recognized by ME3.

  • You have to copy your last ME2 savegame here : Documents > BioWare > Mass Effect 2 > Save > [save files]

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to ask the plateform as I thought that Cloud Storage was only available on PC.

    Which Platform?

On XBox there are some quirks involving the Hard Drive that need to be addressed:

    http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Save_File_Transfer

To import save games on the Xbox 360, the game must be played on the hard drive the saved game was completed on, since it is not possible to transfer the file that Mass Effect 2 imports using the Xbox 360's file management tools (although it is possible when transferring the entire contents of the drive using a transfer cable). As it is possible to transfer regular save files using the Xbox 360's file management tools, the player may choose to transfer a save file right before the final battle and complete it again in order to transfer the completed game file. This will need to be repeated for every playthrough the player wishes to import. Alternatively, run Mass Effect 2 on the old Xbox to import the character, then save the game and move the resulting save file to the new Xbox.

For Xbox 360 units without hard drives, such as the Arcade unit: Importing a Mass Effect save works for any and all devices and Xbox 360 SKUs. Game saves can be transferred to new Xbox 360s with the exception of the final Mass Effect autosave at the end of the game. So, if you are transferring game saves to a new 360, it will work, but you will have to replay the end of the game to recreate that final autosave. Only then will the Mass Effect Import Utility be able to detect that final save. The final autosave is invisible and not listed on any device. For Arcade units, it appears that the final autosave is written to the internal flash memory.

For PS3, some users have had to run updates, clear the configuration utility and try some other things.

Hey, I am running into similar problems with the importing saves. All my folders have the correct designations as you mentioned in your previous post.

However, ME3 will only recognize one character out of five to import. I don't understand why this is. I am sure I saved again on the Normandy after finishing the last level in all those games.

What is strange, is the fact the character has a set of seven numbers after the six. This is my folder's name: Jason_21_Adept_051013_4768492.

Anybody have a clue what that means? Or any suggestions on why I can't import? Thanks.
