Videoing an Adept run starting at level 100 on Insanity

https://youtu.be/OQlLf8QXuGU

I have been hearing how hard high level play is in Mass Effect: Andromeda since about 3 weeks after the game came out.  I haven't played the game steadily like some, as I went through the game a couple times, and then sat back played multiplayer while waiting on DLC.  Once they came out and said ME:A was dead and no DLC was forthcoming, I put it down completely and went to playing other games.  Now I have been talking about ME:A here for awhile, and one thing lead to another and I got back into the game, and so I picked up playing again.  I had only 3 complete run characters, both done lower difficulties and both stopped around level 64.

Now I LOVE Adepts, to the point it is hard for me to play a character class other than them, with Infiltrator coming in as the most common alternative for when I do try something else.  So when I decided to pick the game back up, I of course played Adept, and kicked up the difficulty to Insanity.  This run was fine, fun challenging and not super frustrating either, however it ended at level 99.  So I left her(Raven) to then make an Infiltrator run up to the same level, but only decided to run Hardcore on this one, just because I didn't feel like the extra shooting.  While on the Infiltrator run, I happened to upgrade to the latest AMD video driver suite and they said they had improved ME:A fps over the base release the previous year....well, I have fraps and but on a previous attempt before I upgraded my CPU to the new Ryzen7, it would sit at 9fps....totally unplayable, and so I sadly put aside the idea of videoing and posting ME:A as I did in ME2.  Well with the update, the CPU upgrade and changing the location of the save drive for video, I can now pull 60 fps recording...and so I am now playing and posting again..

Raven is back on Insanity difficulty, I think she actually started like 98.8 level or maybe 99.8...and is currently sitting at level 101.  All her weapons are crafted, as well as her armor.  The first vid I posted of her, was on Harvarl going for the Gauntlet to find the Vault.  Second video which is currently uploading as I type, is on Voeld just after you arrive and get the nomad.    I make no promises on how many vids I will make, or how high I will go with the level, but currently, Raven is curbstomping the poor fools who come after her.....hope any who watches enjoys.

As a side note, very rarely will you ever hear me talk on a video, as it annoys the dog poo out of me when someone blathers on and on during a game video not letting me hear the real important stuff...ie the game.  I may talk some in later vids, but don't expect endless witty comments, most all you will see is just gaming....

Lvel 108 now and setting out to find the Asari Ark...

    Rescuing the Asari...

Have been playing on Kadara a good bit, and recorded some random fights.  Kadara doesn't have what I would call a large "main" fight more of a series of fights to get through to win the planet....so here is a shorter video of some of them, showing what an Adept can do at I think 111 level at the time of the video, on Insanity difficulty.

    Kadara fights.....

Honestly I am beginning to question the idea that enemies still scale up with your level after a certain mark.  I have noticed that my companions have stopped leveling at level 70 and I wonder if enemies have done the same in a similar range.  I haven't noticed any real change in difficulty fighting enemies in a good long while, and it seems to take about the same number of blasts to kill them from my biotics.  So while I have leveled up, have the enemies really done the same??  Maybe this was a stealth patch??  Maybe my game is broken this round??  Maybe only some enemies scale with you??  Maybe I just know the Adept play so good it doesn't matter?....lol, on the last one, I doubt that, I am good at them but not that good....lol.

    Saving the Krogan colony

Now Raven is lvl 112 and helping the Krogan.  Still kicking tail and taking names....

Raven taking on the Flophouse of Elaaden

Ok, Raven is on Elaaden and after taking care of the Vault decided to clear the Flophouse.  She is about level 115 in the video and of course playing on Insanity.  She did die once in the making of the video but I decided to not include it....me being stupid isn't something you need to see.  All in all, nothing too hard to take on.  I currently have a video processing on my machine for Helping Vetra's sister for Vetra's loyalty, and have played the Archon's Ship mission which I also videoed.  Both will get uploaded but since both are fairly long, it takes a long time to upload on my slower internet(have to plan when hours of upload will not effect other things, such as my son's gaming..).....Vetra's will take about 13 hours to upload and I think the Archon will take close to 20 hours, as it is close to an hour of raw data with no deaths to edit out and shorten.  I hope someone is getting some enjoyment from the vids as they are pretty fun to make.  I will also say, NO the game isn't too hard at higher difficulties for an Adept.....can't say about other classes, but Adepts still roll the higher levels.....have fun and play hard...

    Ok, here is Vetra's mission...

    Helping Vetra's Sister

OK, 23 hours of upload later....

    Sneaking into the Archon's ship.....

@mcsupersport;  I haven't watched your clips (I think watching someone else play a game like this is a total snooze) but I agree with you that the game isn't too hard, once you get the hang of things.  Even on Insanity.

Never played an Adept, but have played Sentinel, (most recently, hit Level 132 before the end.  Lots of wasted upgrade points for Ryder and the whole team!) Infiltrator, and Explorer.  (And I think, Soldier, but I'd have to check old saves...)

So maybe for my next run I'll try Adept!  :eahigh_file:

    Helping Jaal

Raven is now 120 level and kicking on through the game....this one is of course Jaal's loyalty but it is edited to remove the very beginning and ending non-fight stuff.  The last couple minutes is Raven running the multiplayer Asari Adept build, throw, annihilation and lance to good effect.  I have to say, there is something so fun about pulling people by holding pull button, bringing them right up to you, and then throwing them off the world/ledge to their deaths....and about 10-20 seconds later getting the credit for it...lol.

@ThandalNLyman  Adept is a powerful class, built less on direct damage as a caster and more on a combo machine.  Making things explode and the bonuses that allow those explosions to set off secondary explosions are the lifeblood of the Adept.  Someone on Youtube said they were the most powerful class in ME:A, which considering I haven't played many of the classes, I can't say for sure, but they are extremely powerful if spec'd right.  If you enjoy a caster build, they are really really fun to play with, and you should play one.  If you are more a direct damage person, then you will probably not enjoy them too much.  If you are curious on what they can do, then you may want to watch my Kadara video, which is fairly short, but is just a sequence of fights in which I use different sets of powers highlighting how strong Raven is.  Or just experiment and have fun on your own, and you should be able to figure out pretty easily what works for you.

    Helping Peebee

Oh, and don't look for Liam's Loyalty...I hate his mission and character setup.  The whole idea of a Crisis Response member who can't keep his head under stress makes no sense.  To me they say one thing about Liam and then made his character totally different, which blows my mind and greatly disappoints me. So while I played it, I didn't and will not video it...

  • Raven at Meridian

Raven has finished Meridian, and technically finished the game...aka main quest, but not in this video.  I have two more to upload both in the 45 minute range of time, and I think Raven topped out at level 127.  She did use Soldier class on Architects, and the Architect in final battle, but in a very limited way.  I felt having seen an Architect she wouldn't believe she could do much against one with Biotics so she looked for a better way with SAM.  The first Architect took about 15 minutes to kill on Insanity, others took about 10 minutes each...I did a run against an Architect on Normal for my son, and I am now thinking of going back and videoing a normal, hardcore, and insanity play all in one video just to show the differences.  On normal, Raven against the Architects is a Goddess, absolutely destroying them insanely fast....yeah, I think I will video it....stay tuned.

    OK, did the runs....

Normal difficulty time to kill the Elaaden Architect....5 minutes

Hardcore difficulty time to kill Elaaden Architect......6 minutes(did it twice because it was too easy....)

Insanity difficulty time to kill Elaaden Architect.......8 minutes 45 seconds

     Raven killing Architect different difficulties

This is with Raven Ryder being around level 125 or so...plus or minus a level or two. I will post a vid of the runs later...will upload to my youtube account tonight and post a link probably tomorrow sometime...

    Killing the Archon...end game....

Have you never played an Adept in the other Mass Effect games?

And you're right, Andromeda is not too hard on Insanity, if any it is still too easy

This is the final video of Raven, which is the killing of all the Architects.

    Raven kill all the Architects

Now, the reason I started videoing Insanity run at level 100 was because of what I had heard about how difficult it was at high levels.  Well, I have to say I don't agree with it being too hard at levels above 100 or even 120.  I submit my last two videos as evidence of this, with killing the Architects and killing the Archon on Insanity well after 100 levels.  IF you happen to be one of those few who watched all the videos, you really will not see much change in killing speed and in some ways, it got easier the higher level I got, by improvements in tactics and changing of some gear.  Honestly, I could easily run Raven back through and pick up another 20 levels and would probably take about the same time as this run did.  I honestly think they enemies stopped leveling up at a similar time to your companions which was around 70th level ....they may have gone up to 80th, but I didn't see much change in the last 50 or so levels.

My honest opinion is, if you are having trouble killing stuff at high levels, it is either in your build, playing ability or gear construction.  MEA offers a great variety of builds, and if you spec your Ryder to complement YOUR playstyle and use gear and weapons to do the same, you should be able to easily walk through MEA on any difficulty and at pretty much any level.  I actually find Insanity harder at low levels rather than at higher.  By the time I hit 120 level, I have everything I use maxed out, I have many different augmentations to complement my playstyle and my character is fully speced to my playstyle and this to me, makes the game very easy to run.  If like on the Architects, I need a different approach being at high levels means easy access to weapons crafting and most likely the skills I would want already being unlocked and maxed, making a playstyle change easy.  Low levels means low health, bad gear, and very limited skills....with the prologue planet being one of the worst for me on Insanity, which is one reason I like NG+ games often with the new game starting on a lower level and moving up to Insanity either at the start of NG+ or later in new game.

Have fun gaming, hope someone got some entertainment value or playstyle ideas from the vids....
