Femshep's neck area flickers when this happens. Also noticed it w/ Miranda in original outfit.

No matter what settings I change it's still there periodically. It's worst on Tuchanka, where it's virtually constant.

The flicker occurs on holstered weapons (femshep & teammates) and sometimes around the eyes also.

I play at 1080p native resolution on an Asus monitor (165 Hz). GSync active (turning it off changes nothing).

  • The Citadel Presidium (human councilor's office) and Tuchanka are the two areas that have texture clipping issues. They never fixed it for the original release, but they did for the Legendary Edition.

Miranda's collar might be an actual model clipping issue. I believe it's not just a texture on her neck, but a part of the outfit's 3D mesh, so it can clip with her neck if she moves her head a certain way.

Regardless, altering your in-game settings won't have an effect. I have experienced the texture clipping issue on both Nvidia and AMD cards. I don't think there are fixes for this.

  • OK, I understand. Good to know. Thanks.

What confused me i guess is all the old YouTube gameplay videos i've watched for comparison where in the same locations this doesn't appear to happen. Two examples:

However, upon closer inspection I do see the flickering. It's just not as noticeable

I suspect it must have something to do w/ colour and armour choices as well? I would expect w/o the default N7 helmet the flickering is also less noticeable?

For me it was never very obvious on Tuchanka. Mostly just the eyes during conversation with Wrex. The Presidium office scene had all kinds of problems, including characters who couldn't stand still and sometimes even just floated around the place. It was an unfinished scene.

I think it's hard for me to compare your issue to the one in the video because I don't see yours in motion. Based on the screenshot, I think it's the armor model clipping. Dying it black will certainly make it less noticeable.

  • Unfortunately, I can't change the neck guard colour for FemShep. Male Shep has it as black, so that's why i didn't notice this problem in my prior playthrough.

I am not sure why they made the neck guard a different colour for FemShep, but there is simply no way to remove this problem w/o changing to a different helmet or switching out the N7 chestplate. That is unless I can find a mod that allows me to customize this section of FemShep's armour. Oh well.
