Why online only?

Why must I have an internet connection to play mass effect 1? There is no online multiplay and it makes no sense to have to log into origin everytime I want to play a single player game. If Steam doe...

    Mass Effect can be launched straight from the executable file (in the installation folder under 'binaries'). A one-time validation may be required but you don't need to be online to play and you certainly don't need Origin.

    If you don't like DRM, why promote a DRM client at all? As someone who doesn't like DRM, I buy games at CD Projekt's GOG whenever possible because all games they sell are DRM-free. EA sells some of their games DRM-free on GOG as well, though I would prefer to see more of their games on that site.
