Xbox Series X crash to dashbord (talk to joker after eden prime mission)

Specs.

  • Xbox Series X, latest updates
  • ME Legendary (disc version), updated with day one patch
  • LG G1 OLED
  • Xbox Elite Controller (1st Gen) in white with official battery pack

The game crashes while trying to fullfill the subject give by anderson "talk to joker" after the eden prime mission. Right after entering the bridge, the game crashes to "desktop/dashboard".

There is no workaround for this, i haven't a headset connected, i tried it several times (after rebooting the console, with different sound an graphics options etc.), the game crashed always in the same spot (walk throug the door (left or right), booom, crash) no matter which actions i did before entering the bridge.

Any advice?

Workaround:

when i connect the controller to the xbox via usb cable, the error does not occur.

If I disconnect the controller from the console/usb cable during the game, the game crashes immediately.

typical gold standard in 2021 to use a wired controller. what else did you expect from ea...

seems to be the same issue as the one with the wireless headsets...

  • Apparently it was pure luck that this worked once, the workaround is no longer reproducible, so I was probably wrong.

The game still crashes at the same point. I also tested an elite gen2 controller, it makes no difference. i have no peripherals connected.

EDIT: i also tried the original series x controller (wired/wireless), no luck

However, I noticed that the moment you enter the bridge, an asset "navmanual blabla (1.4.1 or something)" is loaded (press a to open it). I will reinstall the game, even if the download of the patch takes a while.

EDIT2/Solution: Seems to be a problem with the installation files/missing assets, after the reinstallation (maingame first, then the patch, initially i had installed booth at the same time) of the game the problem is gone.

Hey @frankyfife, thanks for the update.

Are you able to swap back to using your controller wirelessly after this scene without crashing?

@frankyfife Glad to hear you're able to dive back in without that popping back up, thanks!
