I think I may have used the same preset as the OP. To be honest, the skin texture never bothered me until it was mentioned! Lol. I rather like the freckles on her and imho she is rather fetching. :-) She's become my canon Sara. I just wish I could tweak her eyebrows then I'd be completely happy her.
I like how her bro came out but I may do some skin tweaking down the line.

my main issue with the stock presets wasn't that most were ugly, it was that most were ugly and completely unnatural looking (imho), and it took a whole lot of work to undo that, too much.

So here's the thing. I've got a few pictures here of the same character all on Havarl in two conversations part of the same quest:
So in the top picture you see a certain graphical quality on all characters that's alright but in picture 2 it's not there for Ryder even though it's still there for the Angara.
Then in picture 3 I see a certain level of quality that I would expect and in picture 4 it's also much better than what was in picture 2 even though it's a similar shot from a distance of Ryder.
Sadly, picture 2 is also what you see a lot in the game just walking around. In essence, the NPC's tend to look better than Ryder and I don't know where that lighting comes from.
I'm no expert, but this is what I mean with the lighting being bad. Here's just one more example of that just standing on the Tempest:
This is the exact same character, without changing anything in my graphics settings. It's these type of quality differences in the game that makes it so annoying for me.
