[Xbox] Mass Effect Disc Error EA Play Required

EA_Shepard im having this exact issue. I put disc two in when prompted and nothing happens. Eventually it just tells me I need to reup my EA subscription. I own the disc… or it tells me that the disc is dirty, or it tells me that I need to be online to play, or it prompts a large update which never fully installs. I purchased the game brand new. I don’t understand why it’s such a challenge to play it. I’ve spent hours troubleshooting.

EA_Shepard im on original Xbox one. I haven’t been prompted to log into the EA app. I don’t even believe they have one on Xbox one? Do they? I own the game. I just have the disc version and I’m trying to download through the launcher that disc 1 installs onto the console.

xpechosgrandes Ahh okay gotcha. The disc itself should have no issues which means that the console itself thinks that either the EA account, or the Xbox account has/had an EA Play sub at some point. That is typically because something was played through the sub and there are files leftover on the console.

The first thing I would do is log into Your EA account and make sure the Gamertag is connected to the right EA account. Then on your console, clear the persistent storage, and perform these. It may end up where you have to delete all files from everywhere in the Xbox settings. That disc version has nothing to do with a sub. But a save file, DLC, etc., would be something that causes it.

    Persistent Storage

    • Go to settings > Select Device & Connections > Then Blue-Ray
    • Select Persistent Storage > Clear Persistent Storage

    Alternate Mac:

    • Go to settings > Select General  > Then Network settings
    • Go to advanced settings > Alternate Mac address > Select clear
    • Select restart

EA_Shepard hey man, I tried both of these things and nothing changed. My Xbox is set as my home Xbox, my accounts are linked correctly. I have the correct disk in the Xbox. I’ve tried other disks and they work fine. I still get the same error message.

I tried to power cycle the Xbox as well and that changed nothing. I’ve installed and uninstalled the launcher from the disk 4-5 times now and I’m incredibly frustrated that I can’t seem to play a game that I purchased brand new.

Do you have any more suggestions before I return it? I’d still really like to play it.
